Oh, cool, I'll have to look into it. I'm a bit worried about running a super long stress test tho, as I'm only using air cooling. It stays super chill when I'm not pushing it (and the most I've pushed it is running simcraft, which lasts all of a minute), but I'm actually not familiar with what a safe temp is (although I did run a temp monitor last time I ran Simcraft ... went from green to yellow but never red ... don't recall what the actual temp was tho, I'll have to try it again sometime)

Monitor core temperature with RealTemp and uhmm.. don't go far above 80 All in all I shouldn't be that worried (unless you use a lot of voltage) because the chip will thermal throttle should the temperature be a problem.

Don't go far above 80 Celsius.

Honestly, though, Count Zero, your CPU will not likely go that high, and if it does, don't fret, it will throttle back before any damage is done.

What cooler do you have on it? Mine is air-cooled as well, an i7-5820K, so definitely a CPU that uses more power and should create more heat, but most CPU coolers are pretty good nowadays.

This latest thing with AIO/custom liquid coolers is mostly now just a trendy cool look. Practically no one NEEDS them to keep their CPUs cool. Spend half as much and get what you need, even for an overclocked CPU. It might idle at 30 Celsius instead of 20 Celsius, but oh no, that's so warm. /not

Can't imagine that cooler performs much worse than mine, the Hyper 212 Evo, it may even perform better for all we know.

Well most of Intel's CPUs will throttle back at somewhere like 95-100 Celsius, but honestly, if you're below 90 you should be fine. For an 8 hour stress test though, 80 Celsius might be a little rough... should be okay, though.

Your room should just be nice and cozy after a bit, especially if it's smaller. :P

Off the top of my head I want to say when I ran simcraft with the monitor on it got up to 90 celsius but I'm not sure, was only really paying attention to the color meter, haha.

No posts in over a year! D: That's saddening.

    Change it! For NVadeon's sake!

    No R-series overclocks? That's saaaaaaaad.

Hopefully I have done this correctly, also word of note deltrus, the most updated 3D mark basic version only doesn't have firestrike anymore, just mainly Timespy.

These were running on autovolts and autofan but just upped the GPU clocks from 1306 to 1400 mhz and memory from 1750 to 1800 mhz, I will try get round to doing a higher overclock and fiddle with the volts manually some more another time.

Resurrecting to hopefully see some Pascal series!

Trying for a 1,500MHz OC on my GTX 970 right now, for anyone that still finds GPU overclocking interesting.

    http://www.3dmark.com/fs/11939175

Latest result^^ 11,001 in Firestrike! I put KBoost on to keep the OC full fledged the whole way through. Pushing 1.25v at max load, which I believe is .05v above the max you really want to be putting these chips through. XD

For those not prone to perusing results, GPU core was at a whopping 1,480.8MHz, mem clock was 1851.4 aka 3702.8. *wipes brow*

GPU Boost mostly takes are of overclocking your card for you on Pascals. It will boosts core clocks to 2000-2050 on most cards, and very few of them will be able to keep 2150, even with maxed power limit and good aftermarket cooling system. I dont have any experience with Pascal cards upgraded with a waterblock though.

Yes, though TTL said you can get more out of them by doing some manual messing around.

Added a bit, Time Spy is now on the list for benchmarks supported! Let's not let this thread completely die! I'll be back with my GTX 1080 Ti bench.

Who else can't stand GPU Boost? 3DMark just reported I have a core clock on the 1080 Ti of 2038MHz! :O

Welp, I just tried out the Time Spy Stress Test. I'm pondering adding an optional "run a 3DMark stress test (these are different from the benchmarks)" bit to this. Takes about 10 minutes. I just got a 98.8% system stability, so I passed. 99% or higher earns you the "Rock Solid" achievement on Steam. :P That's also only for the Time Spy test. ;o

    - - - Updated - - -

    Okay...

    So, here's the latest scoop.

I made a goal to push the memory higher, while keeping the core at 2025MHz, as it doesn't seem to be wanting to go much higher at all, that's okay. Fine. I feel like I'll have to get an aftermarket one to push the voltages, as MSI Afterburner is not allowing me to actually tweak the voltage, unfortunately. Just the Power %.

So, at the moment, I have this stable, having run Time Spy, Heaven, and Valley, all being successful runs. I feel like I should try to push the memory further, or maybe see if I can get a few more MHz out of the core.

    2025MHz on core
    6056MHz on memory

K|NGP|N the GPU overclocking champ who gets eVGA cards named after him, got his 1080 Ti Founder's Edition, granted being cooled by LN2, to:

    2481MHz on core
    6210MHz on memory

So, relatively speaking, I am not too far behind him on the memory clock at all.

Main reason his Time Spy score is above 13,000 and mine is still in the mid-9,000s is because of the CPU score differences:

    I have a 6c/12th 4.2GHz i7-5820K, he has a 10c/20th 5.1GHz i7-6950X. lol

My latest Time Spy score: http://www.3dmark.com/3dm/19035455?
    His Time Spy score: http://www.3dmark.com/spy/1359386

    - - - Updated - - -

Never mind that, its hard limit is basically 2025MHz on the core. I tried adding 5, yes, FIVE MHz to the core and it crashed. lul

And mind you, it wasn't the temperature, the fan is going nice and loud and crashed at like 68 Celsius when I've had the card run at 84 Celsius before, so. Yeah.

    Awesome! Added!

And sigh, it seems like the voltage is really being locked down, and core clocks too. If you get above 2025MHz, you barely do, as we can see here. How stable was the clock during testing? I know because of Boost 3 they fluctuate a lot, I kinda prefer just having the constant higher clock... Sigh.

I'll have to post my newer OC, though it's not much changed besides the memory being a little over 6GHz and the core clock is around 2025-2038MHz. Though GPU-Z now is showing my max has been 2050MHz.

It's doing wonders for the Folding@Home team, though! You should come join us! If anything is a serious stress-test, it's Folding@Home going for a solid 12-48 hours, depending on circumstances.

Yup they are all voltage locked which is why the reference coolers are hitting then exact same clocks albeit with louder coolers. Mine seems to be stable. I ran every bench back to back then got on Elder Scrolls Online for a few hours and had no problems. I actually might try and get it higher to see if I can break 10k on Time Spy. GPU-Z shows my max at 2088 but gaming it stays at 2063 which is lower than the 2076 that 3dmark reports. GPU boost is weird like that.

I'm adding a custom look for the CPU in a few weeks. As soon as I do I'll tweak the CPU some more and try for some higher benches.

Probably have to skip Folding. It's approaching the warmer months in the UK and they don't have AC here so my upstairs already gets hot as it is.
