Mass effect 1+2 Convince me too like these game

    Hello everyone.

I really enjoy so many things i have seen in these games. the grafik, story, the way that u can get xp, upgrade gear and level up. thats the game i like. And everyone says its great games.

    But.....

When i found out that i am actually forced out too be able too play with and AI squad .... i was really dissapointed. for some reason i really dont like that kind of gameplay, where i need too keep and eye on a medium intelligent AI running around, giving out command all the time. Is the squad gameplay in these games really good, and is it easy too learn for someone like me which are not used play squad team games ?

Hope people can convince me in some way ... because i really want too get into this franshise

    Thanks for your time.

    Schalde

She doesn't just voice the character, the character looks exactly like her, but with dark hair...and you can romance her.

Meh the Ai squad is pretty useless, finished the game on the hardest difficulty and I can tell you there are a bigger anoyance than help. Though they can be used to pick up close range dmg if an enemy happens to surprise you.

You can just give them a command to stay put at the beginning of a instance and leave em there :P

Download the demo. IMO the best way of finding out if you like something or not is to try it out.

You can pretty much ignore your squad mates on anything under the highest difficulty. Mass Effect 1 has some quirky shooting, but it's really nothing to gripe about. Mass Effect 2 brings it up to par with pretty much any 3rd person shooter on the market.

The one who's about as likeable as a random Varren? Some recommendation...

OP, the gameplay and story there are generally considered good to great, and at difficulty lower than Insanity you don't even have to worry about the squad - and who knows, maybe they'll grow on you in time. Besides, even if you don't micromanage them and they fall, you can usually finish the fight by yourself even on Insanity. Seriously, how can anyone convince you to like what you don't like? Just give it a shot...

the AI is not so bad. Your team members usually stay close to you, unless you tell them to move to cover with the simple touch of a button. You can hotkey moves for them to use aswell and it makes it into a fluid game. You can even go into the options and turn on different modes where they use there abilities on there own, or you can select it to wear they will only use skills if you tell them to. Its a great game dont let a silly squad philosophy turn you of to it. ME 1 is more of a strategy game imo where ME 2 is alot faster of a pace and it feels more like a shooter to me

I spend most of the first game ressing the more retarded members of my squad. Tactics and rush the machine guns are pretty much the same thing to Krogans.

The second one, I don't remember the AI at all. This probably means it was doing it's job.

Play them, get lost in them. They are what you make of them. Not as open as something like Fallout 3 or Skyrim, but if you don't get wrapped up in the story, then you may be better with something more action based.

To be honest, I went Infiltrator on both ME 1 and 2. There were occasional times that I would use my squad members abilities (shockwave, AI hack) but other than that I really ignored my team.
As a infiltrator, (basically a sniper) I did most of my fights hiding and sniping out enemies while my team served as meat shields. It was beautiful.

And in ME 1 there's so many med gel kits if they died I would go sniper crazy, then when the field was clear I would heal them back and continue on. They really didn't get in my way at all as a sniper, and actually made it more enjoyable to play as one.

For some reason, I can't play anything but the soldier:P I tried other classes but adrenaline rush is just so much better than anything else. Especially with the Mattock rifle with 6-7 upgrades. You can take out a heavy mech with those without even getting hit on insane difficulty.
    whiny, civvy crybaby

ME 1...I can't. Really, the controls sucked epic balls.

    ME 2 was great.

    Soldier for life.

As for the OP. Don't worry about the squadmates. They're smart enough to not get in your way most of the time, and they need very little direction, unless you're playing on the highest difficulty, and even then, it's not too bad. You can literally set the squadmates up, (quite easily I might add, just a couple of settings in the options menu) to manage themselves entirely. In combat they follow you around and attack things and use their various powers on their own without any input from you. You can even set them to auto level so you don't have to manage their skills.

I highly recommend these games because the story is awesome, they're fun, and you always feel like a total badass, because Shepard don't give no fucks!
If Goku's power level increases at the same rate till the end of DBGT as it does till the end of the Frieza saga, as a SS4 Goku would have a PL of roughly 939 Quinoctogintillion. For reference that is a 260 digit number. A PL of 14,600 is required to destroy an earth sized planet. There are about 2 nonillion earths worth of mass in the universe. That means SS4 Goku can destroy the universe about 32 Octosexagintillion times over. There's a reason they made Goku a god at the end of GT.

I can't really vouch for ME2, I personally liked ME1 much better. I played through ME1 multiple times and enjoyed every bit of it but one playthrough of ME2 was enough for me to put it down and I haven't played it since.

    There overrated.

    I LOVED ME2 but....I can't bear to do a second playthrough....

ME1 had a good main story (better in many ways) but it was very short.

Its all about the story, if you arent a story guy, Theres no amount of convincing that will change your mind.

    Mass Effect 1

The first one is plagued with sub par third person gameplay, makes up with a captivating story and brilliant dialogue. You need to speak to squad m8s after every missions and to speak to as much people as possible to get everyones background story, thats the main part of the game. The game is not very open, the open side of the game is again dialoque. Tough this one is more focused on the main galactic story then about specific character, its pretty much setting you up for me2/m3.

You can ingnore the squad mates themselves during combat, but on insane you want them for their ability to speed up the gameplay. You can decide which squad m8 to bring and depending on your class make them bring crowd control or damaging ability to help you. On pc you can map all your squad m8 ability to keys making all of it very fast.

    Mass Effect 2

Story wise, this is one is more like a side story before the storm. The most important part of the story is the squad m8 mission. This game is entirely focused on character background stories. Again you must speak to your team after every missions, you must finish their loyality missions to grasp most of the characters. Some have a better story then others. Again theres no real open gameplay here, the open side is the dialoque. The decision you take during your loyality missions not only impact the ending of your mass effect 2 game, but the story of mass effect 3( when its time to rally the races under a single assault force against the threat) the life, death or simply the relationship you had with said squad m8 can and will change the outcome of your future alliance, or lack of them.

Gameplay wise mass effect 2, improved on third person shooting a lot. Its no gears of war, gameplay wise, but its polished. You can ignore the squad members, but again on insane you just want them for their ability. Combining ability to take down shield, barrier, armor, etc it simply faster then gunning some of the stronger enemy for 2 minutes. You can decide which squad m8 to bring, except on the squad mission, you are forced to bring the squad m8 to his own loyality mission.

With all that said it still comes back to this. If you dont like reading, listening to side story and science fiction descriptions, you just wont enjoy those games. If you cant enjoy the idea of listening to hours of dialogue, you wont like this game. If you cant stand space opera, well you took the wrong game.

Haters gonna hate. The OP asked us to convince him to like these, not the opposite, and simply saying that they're overrated doesn't really give the OP any help with making an informed opinion.

I've never really commanded my squad. Shepard is so OP that you barely realize they are even there. Commanding them is just a waste of time, mow through the mobs. Can't really convince you to like them, either you love it or you hate it.
