Demonology offspec help!

My problem is kind of complex so bear with me please:

I've been raiding as demonology and I try to keep up with my class and spec's mechanics. this is my armory

Although in most fights my dps is pretty acceptable (i hate pet twisting so i don't do it, even though i know i lose a bit of dps, i raid with a respectable amount of lag, so I'd rather not make any mistakes, which pet twisting makes me prone to do), I can easily pull 33, 34k on ultraxion.

I'm currently running with 1573 haste (EJ tells me to wait till 397+ to reforge to 1993) and i verified this is ok by simcrafting http://chardev.org/?profile=346273 (I can attain 1993 haste with my gear at the cost of mastery). If i reforged to 1993 I'd lose about 200 dps

My question is: I wanna get an offspec for Warmaster, which would be least affected by demonology's soft cap of haste? destro or affli? If I get either as offspec, would it be worth it to reforge to 1993 even if it meant losing some dps in my main spec? which spec would benefit more from the change?

I don't wanna reforge/respec everytime i change specs... I think it defeats the purpose, which spec would you recommend as offspec for a demonology warlock!

Mastery is mediocre for destruction and awful for affliction. The question of which spec to take will depend on your own gear and preferences, but playing either spec in an optimal fashion will require reforging.

Affliction is the least affected by haste thresholds; haste is consistently strong regardless of how much you have. Destro wants to get as close to 2681 as possible without going under.

Thanks for your reply, I knew mastery would be a problem, I wonder if all demo locks reforge everything every time they change specs....

I could reforge, but it would still be suboptimal because im not ready to spend so much gold on regemming too (nor reenchanting for that matter)

Having a spec with secondary stats so incompatible with the other specs is quite a pain in the @$$....

If you're pushing progression on HM Warmaster, I'd say it's highly recommended to reforge for afflic/destro for it rather than sticking in demo gear. (If you're switching specs in the first place) Reforging alone would make it much more optimal for either afflic or destro. Since you don't want to change gems/chants, it'd be just fine, just not min/maxed. I don't change gems/chants, way too costly and our GM is bitchy over gbank money beyond repairs. (even with 175k+ in it...) But reforging can change everything, and I would definitely do it if you're progressing on it.

Assuming you have to reforge every single item, one switch to an OS and back would be like...300g each switch I believe, so 600g total. 90% of that can be made back up though dungeons or the raid shared gold loot. (I started reforging 4-5 times each raid week (now down to 3 times, most was figuring out which spec worked best with our..less than desired comp) and never saw a gold amount change, don't do dungeons, and I rarely play AH).

Reforging would be suboptimal, but only a tiny amount off from optimal compared to not reforging at all.

Every person's situation is different, but in my 25m we don't have an Ele Shaman so I stayed Demonology for Warmaster. All our other casters really appreciated the extra spellpower.

If you assume 4% of every caster's damage and 4% of every healer's healing is attributed to you, it's worth it. In 10 man maybe not.

Neither really... mastery is alright for Destruction, but you really want to hit 2681 haste if you're playing destruction, it really ups your DPS quite a bit. Affliction + mastery is terrible and even with the multidotting, you'll probably find your DPS is lower than if you had stayed demo. That being said, if you're in a hard-mode guild, I would reforge for every fight that you need to change specs for. Sites like wowreforge.com are very useful for hitting your caps closely without too much trouble.
