Thread: Skullgirls!

    Skullgirls!

As a fan of fighting games, I feel completely silly overlooking this game until about a month ago. The animations have so much work put into them, the gameplay looks incredibly smooth, it's as if Reverge made a list of all the things people hate in fighting games, and made sure they weren't it skullgirls

I've also heard very impressive things about the tutorial and training mode, like the tutorial actually teaching spacing and footsies, as well as the training actually giving some frame data.

Here's the 2011 trailer, but a lot more characters have been announced since then.

So what do the good people at mmo-champ think of Skullgirls? The game is looking amazing for me so far, seems they've worked hard to perfect all the things you love in a fighting game!

I remember when news sites were making a big deal about how the characters were over-sexualized in the game.

It's like they've never played a fighting game before.

Heh, I'll agree this game is pretty sexualized, though there are still characters like Peacock, Painwheel, and possibly Ms. Fortune who are a bit less sexualized than the others

The animation is incredibly smooth and the game looks fun.

It's just a shame they went with the Japanese cartoon look. That look is WAY overused today.

    Skullgirls? I have three words.

    GET. FUCKING. HYPE.
Dracodraco: Don't worry Kankuri, we can just continue it without them. We just need someone to play Bibi, and someone to play Sunshine.
Kankuri: I'm fairly certain that is the definition of awkward.
Bibi: I want you inside me Kankuri
    Bibi: now, that's awkward.

I don't like most characters design (like a Parasoul or the girl with the muscle hat), and the game is too slow for me. I guess I played too much MvC2 when I was young.

I watched more than 20 match videos and like 5 or 6 streams, including after the "10% more speed" patch they released with the girl that releases her head, and no offense, but I think it is enough. It is not as fast as the games I play (you can't be seriously suggestioning that Skullgirls is as fast as MvC2 ), it has that BBCS slow mood, and - in that case - I rather play BBCS.

Bayonetta's giant hair dragon summon says hello.

I'll agree it's no the fastest game out there, but is that necessarily a bad thing? Personally I'm not too fond of the speed in a game like, for example MvC3 since it can lead to some cheesy mixups and unblockables

One of the mechanics that's interesting me, is if the game detects you're trying to do a 360, it actually keeps you from jumping, so you can easily do a 360 without whiffing with a jump. I'm wondering though, how will it be sure you're doing a 360, as opposed to, for example a half-circle back followed by a backwards jump?

I find it more fitting to compare a fighting game to a fighting game, not to mention Guilty Gear predates Bayonetta by 14 years.

Has anyone taken a look at their plans for the story mode? Trailer for it here.

It's actually looking to have a really solid story, with any luck it'll be just a strong as MK9's.

I know. Was just offering another (more recent) example.

No, it is not. I just said that I don't like it because it is not as fast as I wanted it to be, I never said that Skullgirls players are losers, stupid, noobs or anything like that.

Indeed. The way I see it, the faster matches are, the more difficult it can be to learn from your mistakes, or what they were in the first place

So, the final character for Skullgirls, Double, has been released! A quick walkthrough of her moves can be found on the two videos on SRK - http://shoryuken.com/2012/02/17/skul...ugh-by-mike-z/
