Need a new Notebook - costs as much as 4 months ago?

    Hi all,

I'm buying a new notebook computer. Price range is around 600€ (Germany), and there are two topics I'd like to discuss:

    1) I bought my sister a notebook 4 months ago, lenovo thinkpad edge e520, was 600 euros, is still 600 euros, exact same specs, same store, still the cheapest I find - is this normal? Is a drop in prices afoot?

    2) I'm uncertain if I should go for a thinkpad edge again, or ASUS (also non-crystal display), something along the K53SV series - do ASUS build reliable notebooks?
I'm fairly satisfied with thinkpads so far, but don't desperately need the red trackbutton thingy (though it is kind of handy), and I consider trying ASUS. Maybe I'll miss the hdd protection of thinkpads one day though...

    help me out please!

Asus' laptops are very reliable, the only downside to them is the touchpad & the wonky charger for some laptops (N53 series), I don't think that's the case with the K53SV though.
