I find it annoying when I heal for over 300k and still only earn 6 medals if I am lucky. Its to the point where I should just respec, get new pvp gear and start dpsing. It would be nice if they would give healers more credit in WZ.

Could you possibly link a source? I'd be interested to check it out because I, very much, sympathize with the OP. Most medals are easily beyond healers to acquire and it does seem really unfair, when you consider the fact that tanks and dps players are in much better position to earn more by just simply doing what they do.
The problem is that when I try to go hybrid, I end up doing both jobs really poorly. I've found that, unless the situation is really critical (like ball carrier about to score) or I'm just helping someone finish a guy off, it is best to stick to what I do best, which is healing. My damage for the most part, at least as an operative, is usually pretty low and I feel almost disgusted when I try to hack at an enemy on my own. Their health bars barely register.
isnt 6 medals pretty good? i think the most a healer can get is probably 7 depending on the warzone.
The website is down right now, but when it's up this should be the link for it... http://www.swtor.com/blog/community-qa-feb-17th-2012
This is the direct quote for it, it was part of their last Q&A.
Gladoss, titdiscus, Leoran: What do you plan to against Warzones’ AFK, more particularly about players who leave Warzones ? Will there be sanctions for this type of behavior?
Gabe Amatangelo: It is not sanctioned behavior. In Game Update 1.2 we will be making changes to the Warzone rewards system, which will de-incentivize this type of behavior. This will include the removal of the interim bag/quest system, the introduction of the direct purchase of gear from Warzone and Ranked Warzone commendations, 14 new objective-based medals and participation scaling the rewards. Additionally, players will have the option to vote kick idlers. Kicked players will not be able to re-queue for several minutes.
As a healer i usually get from 5 to 12 medals depending on matchtime and warzone.
As a marauder in hutball even if i cap 3ish time trying my best to get win you can end with only 2-3 medals.
And I totally hate that bg as a melee with no knock bacl very frustrating.
The medal system does need some work - looking forward to seeing the changes. It rewards hybrid play the most and is on the verge of punishing objective related play (no medal for huttball assists and scores!?!)
While I spend 80% of my time healing in warzones, as an operative healer I will help focus down targets, especially the huttball carrier in addition to applying slows. I find the occasional hidden strike/backstab combo usually nets me the 2.5k hit medal and I often pick up 10 kills and 1 killing blow too. The majority of the time on my server, people will reward the top healer with a few MVPs so that normally makes up for the lost valor (this is just for 50 wzs tho, I think in 10-49 ppl don't always understand the system).
I'd like to see 'smart healing' medals - e.g. healing done on the huttball carrier, landing a direct heal on someone <25% health, although it does sound like the new medals will mostly focus around warzone objectives as opposed to healing sadly. I read 14 new medals - makes me think 3-4 per warzone (if you count the one coming in 1.2).
I would agree. I play a tank in WZ and I can easily pull 7-9 medals a game with a healer partner, yet the healer partner get 4-5 for the same game with them hitched to my side. I would say this is a large disparity, and Bioware needs to add more medals for healing or something to compensate a healer.
I agree that healers need more medal love.
As a tank its stupid easy to get 7 medals every time, while a healer will have to work his ass off to get 5. I once saw a vanguard get 10 medals, then 4 mvp votes, with 70k guarded (which is damn impressive) and their main healer (only healer) who did over 350k healing and like 40k dmg walk away with 5 and no votes.
14 for tank, 5 for healer. Come on...
My sig does not define me.
Because healing in TOR is crap. It has no StratEgic element and is boring and dull.
Can you elaborate a bit? What is your definition of strategic? You cannot simply spam your biggest heal, you have to use more efficient heals or you will be... well the ToR equivlent of 'oom'.
I am interested in what you think could improve healing, or why you think it is crap...
My sig does not define me.
I'm personally interested in seeing what the new medals they are introducing are for, and what they favour in terms of roles and play style in PvP.
