    What class should I start?

I've been playing tank mostly in WoW and loved the fact that tanks are quite rare and I am useful, even very useful for everyone. I could gear fast, I loved the feeling that I am playing role that is least represented.

What class should I play to get same in swtor? A friend told me there are many tanks, so I wanted to play healer, took sorceror but as it appears sorceror is really popular and I got exact opposite of what I wanted. Are healers/tanks in any shortage in Swtor?
If people asked me, whom should I roll in WoW I would say any tank if you like tanking or any healer if you don't because these roles are always wanted. What is the same in swtor?

TLDR What class and role should I play?

The one you like dude. Its more about the story than the roles and uniquity.
But if you wanna be a rare snowflake, puck up a smuggler scoundrel healer.

Attleast in our server, the hardest class to find seems to be healer. Maybe check some videos from youtube, and read from wiki about the classes before you decide.

Seconded. Smuggler/Operative are already about the rarest class in game and S/O healers are even rarer.

Be warned: the reason why Smugglers/IAs are so rare is because that class (for both ACs) is horrible for anything other than healing.

End-game, playing an IA will probably be most sought after. A serious shortage of both DPS and healers for that class. For flashpoints, we have a severe tank shortage. Probably not helped by the fact that a lot of raid encounters only require 1 tank.

If you think this, then you really know nothing about those classes. A well played sniper is deadly in PvP and extremely good in PvE, probably one of the best ranged DPS classes.

I disagree. My Gunslinger is 44 right now, and I'd actually say they are very overpowered. At least in PVP. They put out some serious burst, along with a lot of cc's, and good defensive cooldowns.

This is mostly because you're level 44. Snipers are OP at very low level PvP because they gain so much from bolstering and they're OP as hell just before 50 because everyone has around 11k-12k HP and no expertise so your burst will take people down in no time. In addition to that few people in the pre-50 bracket know about the severe design weaknesses (like immobilize preventing cover) that you can use against a Sniper. Once you hit 50 it will be a different story.

(This discussion repeats over and over at the official forums. Someone complains about Snipers being the official joke class of SWToR PvP, some sub-50 Sniper shows up telling how much he is pwning with his burst, he'll be told it's because he's not 50 yet, he won't believe it... later he hits 50 and makes a thread complaining about what a joke he is in PvP and some sub-50 comes along telling him how much he's pwning with his burst... it gets much better with gear but the Sniper is still very badly gimped by bad design and cover bugs.)

In PvE, however, the Sniper is pretty much the best DPS in game.

Snipers are horrible at BM-level PvP. No mobility, doesn't have the multiple knockbacks a Merc has. A Sniper is like a Commando, if you take away the hard armor and the knockbacks (yes I know Sniper has a weak knockback, but it's not nearly as effective as a Commandos).

Seriously, don't go Sniper if you want to seriously PvP with it.

Sniper knockback is actually the "strongest" in the game along with force push, it knocks back much further than Merc or Sorc knockbacks, and if talented it's the strongest knockback in the game. The problem with it is that it requires cover to use which means generally to use it you have to pop out of cover, move to position yourself right for the knockback, go into cover and then use it... and to make things worse cover has a habit of bugging near edges (like when trying to use the small edge near the boxes in Huttball) which is exactly where you need to use the knockback.

Lethality Snipers don't require cover for their primary damage skills (you'll still need it for other stuff like the knockback) and they're actually the most mobile ranged DPS in the game. They have other weaknesses, though, the worst being that their damage is basically completely neutralized by any class that can dispel Tech. If they had some dispel protection and the worst problems with cover were changed/fixed, Lethality Snipers would be pretty good in warzones.

Both Agent advanced classes also have a very frustrating lack of ability to do anything in Huttball besides pew pew. They're squishy, the defensive cooldowns are ineffective, they have no speed boost or leap...

"What class should I roll" threads are considered pointless. No one can decide for you, OP. All you can do is try out the different classes and see what you enjoy the most, and then look for a guild where you can provide your experience and skills.
