What is there? Why is it blurred on every map that I, at least, have access to?

    http://maps.google.com/maps?q=66%201...N&hl=en&tab=wl

    http://www.wikimapia.org/#lat=66.147...2&z=10&l=0&m=b

The Bing Map shows a poorly photoshopped image of nothing.

The more logical explanations are 'Russian Nuke Base' and 'Russian Dead Man Switch from the Cold War'.

The more outrageous options are 'Tesla-Style Research Site' and of course 'Alien Embassy'.

What do you think is there and why do you think it is blurred out?

    cool find

seems it was deliberate at least, as it says google 2011 everywhere on it...

Using the second map and google translate you can find out that it is/was a gold mine and there's nothing actually hidden.

Rough Translation of one of the comments:
"there's nothing, though it looks so mysterious .. has been much debate on this subject"

And where is the industry to make that huge rectangular cloud of smog? Smog doesn't just form and then float around by itself.

Then why do they need to blur it out?

Cause if it was a Russian *blank* I'm sure Google, of all people, would happily help sensor it from the public...

Maybe they haven't turned their satellites towards it ever, and thought it would be a waste of money to do so just to reveal some stupid wilderness in Russia.

Uhhhhhhhhh it scares me that it's in Russia.

Near Alaska border. As other searched - gold mine. Territory - Russia. Sum it up and we can end with some military/research underground facility. Good place to place a nuclear silo to cover..which is that, West Coast?
