Ally/Adversary guilds?

Am I missing something? Or is this feature just completely useless? I remember in the guild pre-launch program they had a guild adversary/alliance thing, and I know we had a couple guilds on the list. Was that purely for placement purposes, or were there bonuses for doing it?

There weren't any bonuses outside of being placed on the same server, and in that case not all alliances / adversary's were placed on the same server. For us, we made an adversary alliance with a Sith guild, where we put our alts into their guild and they can put their Republic alts into our guild.
