Who is with me?!?!
I can't remember the last time I was this hyped for a game to come out. I visit these forums and watch videos every day!
Who is with me?!?!
Me, sadly. I don't want to get hyped for a game, but it's very hard to when faced with such a promising MMO.
I can't even play other games because of the hype...I'm so excited for the combat in GW2 it's really all I think about lol
Hype is good, but too much hype can lead to disappointment (SWTOR)
i've been hyped about nearly every other major mmo released in the last 4 years. unfortunately for all of them (for me) the excitement dies after 2-3 months. not sure if it's me or the games...
hopefully this one is different.
This is the first time I have been this hyped for a game since Majora's Mask.
You realize that you have probably set impossible standards for the game in your mind?
I am so freaking hyped. I went to my in-laws for dinner tonight and I talked about GW2 almost the entire time with their 15 year old son. LOL.
All I can say is it has saved me some money since I cancelled all my other MMO accounts. Not that I dislike them it is just I am tired of playing the newest Everquest.
I'm in the same boat. I tried going on WoW before (I signed up for the annual pass) and I just got depressed while thinking about how awesome GW2 is. Sure, I finally got 100 artifacts completed (I like archeology) but after that I just sort of just got sick of being on. Maybe I will play that ME3 demo. It looks fun!
I kept telling myself to stay calm and not be a fanboy... I hate fanboys and I hate that i've become one myself..
Alas... Guildwars 2 is TOO promising to be calm.

Hated by many, confronted by none.
I know, I'm SUCH a fangirl. Whnever I see someone bashing GW2 I want to call them names for being so uninformed and those who have done the research and still chose to pass on it well, I try to remind myself that I don't want someone so silly in my game anyway. :P
Who the hell in their right mind would pass on this game?
Best piece of advice I can give is this:
Don't get anything worked up in your head as to how any one thing works. ONLY go by what ANet has said and what we've seen. If you do this, you can only be disappointed if they fail to deliver what they've said they will. However, if you get some grand idea in your head that you've thought up yourself, it WILL lead to disappointment because they can't possibly deliver on something they never said they would.
From the impressions coming out of the press beta, they have indeed delivered, but still please heed my advice.
To answer the OP, I've been hyped since 2010 and it's only got worse since this rush of info and footage from the press beta.
I am.
Even with all the crappy footage I've seen so far, the game itself has me pumped and ready to go!

I have a good case of optimism, but I'm trying to keep my hype to a mere simmer. Every time I get hyped over something, it never turns out as good as I hoped.
People are calling the game awesome, without having tried it.
People are calling this game "the best MMORPG!!" and it's not even out yet.
People are so hyped about this game that they can't focus on anything else, their minds being filled with the promise of this game.
A lot of people are going to crash and hurt themselves.
I have followd the production of this game for a long time, I enjoy what I see and besides the constant bashing (Fact of life, every new MMORPG being released must be promoted by players bashing OTHER mmorpgs) I have yet to see something I downright dislike. I will miss having a mount, but I get that in other games.
However, I have been playing WoW for years and it is the best MMORPG in my mind. I have tried others and not felt anything. This game = I did not have any expecations when I began, and I keep an open mind. This is exactly what I'm going to do with GW2, because that game will obviously have flaws, it'll have bugs, it'll have a bad community in some areas. I do not think it'll surpass WoW (or even RDR on console) in my book, but if it's as good as it seems and works as well or better than WoW on a wide range of setups, then it'll be a game that I will enjoy for a long time since it's so different and, hopefully, high in production quality.
Am I hyped? No. Am I looking forward to the game? Yes, I am looking forward to trying it. But it stops there, I know nothing about how it'll turn out so I'm not promoting it as the best game ever, the winner in MMORPGs and stuff like that.
I'm very hyped about MOP though, the next expansion for the game I know since many years. But still, there's no way of telling how I will feel after the first day in it.
WoW having more subs than SWTOR is the same thing as Justin Bieber having more youtube plays than Tupac. Just because its more popular doesn't mean its good..".No, but watching Youtube clips is free and loads watch to see what the huff is about. Would 10 million + people really keep paying/buying a game if they didn't enjoy the game and it wasn't good? That's some epic logic fail right there...-_-. WoW = great game for those that enjoy it. Derp.
Forever a nub, forever in WoW.
Really, the most important aspect/deal breaker for me at the beginning (and probably throughout my time in the game) will be the size of the world and the ability to explore/discover almost endlessly.
I prefer games that take hours to cross one zone.
