    "...and I approve this message."

Whatever happened to political ads where they talk about the person who is paying for it?

Every single political ad today is just a smear campaign ad. I don't remember the last time I saw any positive pro-candidate commercial, they're all just anti-opponent ads now.

I know that the smear ads have been going on for a VERY long time, but I feel like the non-smear ads are 100% gone now.

While "Swiftboating" is certainly a bad practice, I don't really mind negative ads. They're much more honest then the positive ads, which are almost always fluff.

Well, a candidate can not only promote himself as a candidate, but explain why his opposing candidate is bad for the job. It may not be pretty how they go about it, but both tacks are equally valid.

I like the ones that go like this:

"Mitt Romney sleeps with the lights on, is this the kind of man that you want for president?"

Realizing all this is a good step forward.

All these ads aim a "retarded" part of the country, you must be independent in your choices.

They should at least aim for some balance...

    Every ad is:
-Obama has done this and this and bla bla bla he's Hitler reincarnated.
-Romney has done this and this and... he's a cultist
-Santorum hates God and you too.

    There's almost no:
    -As President, Romney would...
    -As President, Santorum would...
    -If reelected, Obama would...

Well, it's disgusting. Any political ad should detail what the candidate wants to achieve, and preferably how (which is how it works most places).

Paul has his share of attack ads, but he runs more "I will do X in Y timeline/because Z" ads than any of the others.

Is what happened, and expect a bombardment of negative nonsense come the election this fall. But at least we get to enjoy the republicans destroy each other and burning a ton of $$$$ while doing it, so guess it isnt all bad.
