I actually am unsure what I will be using for my Guardian. I think going Sword/Torch could be fun, but all of the weapons look fun as hell... so I'll have to play with it and find out what my Guardian playstyle is. O_o

I definitely am liking Greatsword better than Hammer, simply because I can leap at my foe.
I hope you haven't forgotten my role in this little story. I'm the leading man. You know what they say about the leading man? He never dies.

His new avatar killed derp. All derp had was a giant fork to protect him.

    Bring back the derp!

My guardian will be more supportive, carrying a mace and shield at all times. The hammer will be my secondary, especially if I am fighting mesmers and necromancers, but is overall great at fighting over melee opponents. The only thing that I am still undecided on are my actual points. I might go 20-30-20 spread zeal, valor, and honor respectively.

This is most likely what I will be running with:

    Zeal- 20
    - Zealot's Speed: Gain 10 seconds of Swiftness when health dips below 50% health (30 second cooldown)
    - Zealous Courage: You trigger a symbol of courage at your location when you reach 50% health

Conciliatory Strength: 10% of Power is given as a bonus to Healing
Final Restoration: Smite conditions when health reaches 25%

    Valor: 30

Valorous Protection: You gain protection when your health reaches 50%
Might of the Protector: You gain might when you block attacks
Retributive Armor: 10% of Toughness is given as a bonus to Precision

Mace of Justice: Your mace attacks do 5% more damage
Defender's Shield: Gain extra armor while wielding a shield (+50 Toughness)
Monk's Focus: You are healed when you use a meditation

    Honor: 20
Protective Reviver: You and your ally gain aegis when you revive them
Pure of Heart: Aegis heals on removal

Writ of the Merciful: All symbols give Regeneration
Honorable Shield: 15% Reduced cooldown on shield skills

    Other skills:

Shelter Shelter: Block attacks while healing.
Wall of Reflection: Protect target area with a wall of mystic power that Reflects projectiles.
Merciful Intervention: Teleport to the nearby ally with the lowest health and create a healing area around them.
Signet of Mercy: Passive: Improves healing. Active: Revive a nearby ally.

Tome of Courage: Locks you in place but grants you powerful support spells.

Patience is not part of a guardians virtue! Loop holes ftw.

So I'm curious what races you guys have chosen for your Guardians?

I'm stuck between an Asura (Mif swayed me) and a Human...

Human is the obvious choice for any Paladin archetype.

Just like Elf (Sylvari) for an archer and giant muscly brute for a warrior (Charr/Norn)

    ^___^

TBH, since I see the Guardian as kind of a... "beefy" type... I'd probably pick either Norn or Charr.

@Larynx...I disagree that any race has an "obvious" class choice. Maybe in a roleplaying situation but People usually play whatever they feel fits. I really think ANY of these races can fit with any profession, except for the Norn who look kind of funny as spellcasters. I kinda like the Asura with the whole guardian design. They seem to be a very protective race, and what they lack in size they make up for in wits and agility for the greater good of the group.

Personally I'm thinking Human. Im concerned Norn will just look a bit too big and out of place. I'm not the biggest Asura fan as they are little too comical for me and Charr just doesnt feel right. Im not ruling our Sylvari just yet, I want to take a bit of a closer look at them however im concerned about how they will look in heavy armor.

Honestly, only a Male/Female human and a female norn appeal to me as a Guardian. The Charr do not (let the flamming begin) do not appeal to me that much for whatever reason. Or maybe I should be unique and make a Sylvari Guardian? :P

I guess I would agree with that as well. Especially a Mesmer...

Well, maybe a little, but in the same way that the gremlins in gremlins 2 were comical.

From the Asuran gurdian gameplay vid by TotalBuscuit though they seem a little to bouncy and boundy for me. personal prefference of course, dont want to start an argument as everyone has their own tastes.
