I'm Starting rift up again. I was seeing that there were some content patches that cost money. How many are there and are they all ten bucks to buy? I should have been trying to look it up online but i cannot seem to find any info on anything other then the ashes of history one. Anything might be helpful.

all of the patches are completely free
you can however upgrade ur account to collectors edition AND ashes edition for a few vanity items and a mount for £5 ($10?) each, well worth it imoRIFT: Valakin lvl 60 rogue / Valakis lvl 60 mage - Zaviel EU, guild "Consortium"

Those are digital collectors editions (mounts, bags, other cosmetic items), not content updates. All updates are 100% free.
