quickest way to get PvE geared for DS?

I am a PvP player about to try out some PvE. My guild is done with Firelands, and now doing DS. They have a spot for me as long as I can get geared. I really don't know much at all about PvE gear, so my questions is:

what is the fastest way to get geared?
    anything a BS can make?
    Raid finder?
    Weekly BH raids?

    Thank you

ignorant question from a pvp guy:
what are the 3 new dungeons?

if you got item lvl for the new heroics just spam them.I dinget 2 days ago 85 on my rogue and now i got 381 item lvl with nothing to do

Also buy the 377 ilvl pvp gear from tailoring, it's really cheap and I could reach the 378 ilvl requirement the day I dinged 85 with boes.

Assuming you have good/decent pvp gear, your ilvl should be plenty high for the 3 new 5 mans and raid finder. Just run them over and over until you're about 378 and thats fine for just starting in DS. You can supplement that with valor gear and running BH every week. You can hit 378 easily in a week from 5 mans alone.

Buy the BoE VP Bracers and Boots and/or the crafted Bracers and Pants. Valor points should be spent on cloak/neck/relic first as those don't have upgrades. Beyond that, chain run the 3 new Dungeons (End Time, Hour of Twilight and Well of Eternity) until you have full 378's. Make sure you run a full Raid Finder each week and hope for some luck. If your guildies are wiilling to run it with you they can always roll on gear you need to improve your odds. If you have decent pvp gear, leaving a few pieces of high level pvp gear in will likely still be a dps increase for you over some of the 378 gear you can win. It really doesn't take more than a few days to be in gear that can do enough dps for DS normal especially with the nerfs.

The three new dungeons are labeled as the Hour of Twilight dungeons in the dungeon finder. You can queue for them specifically and still get valor from queue.

    I would personally recommend:

    1) Run the Hour of Twilight dungeons for the 378 ilvl gear, valor points, and justice points.
    2) Buy gear via VP / Justice. Focus on tier pieces from justice, and cloak / trinket / rings from valor.(You can buy the 397 bracers / boots currently for pretty cheap. On my server its about 6k for both of them)
    3) If your guild is serious about gearing you up, I would recommend setting up a guild BH run. (10 or 25 man, whichever you can get). That way, if PVE gear does drop that you can use, you are guaranteed it.
    4) Do LFR with as many guildies / people on your token as you can. Find people that don't need the same things you do, but can still roll on it for you. That way you gear up faster. LFR is probably the best way to get good gear for DS.
    5) The first 3-4 bosses in DS really aren't very taxing, or gear intesive. You could probably kill morchok with everyone at 372 ilvl if they know what they are doing. See if you can squeeze in for at least the first couple of bosses even if you aren't geared.

it took me about 4 days to gear up from fresh 85 to raidready for DS. and i dont mean /played.
step 1: trade in your honor for PVP gear. 2-3 pieces is enuff. its more important that you get 2 items than 1 item thats more useful. i.e. get a cloak and a ring instead of legs.
step 2: buy some craftable pvp gear w/ high enough ilevel to get into the new heroics.
step 3: farm the new heroics.

i went into DS with 378 everything besides my hat, which was a 390 pvp hat. were progressing through heroic modes. i r the healer. works out fine.

KEY: THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT you actually need to know how to play (both GAME mechanics AND CLASS mechanics) otherwise this will not work for you. healing the heroics as a fresh 85 gimping the ilevel requirements is actually very difficult. so GL.

edit: if your pvp gear is good enough just go do DS to get pve gear. if your guild is butthurt about you wearing pvp gear, show em up by topping meters. or, if thats not possible, go farm a pve set in heroics/BH/lfr

    What class/spec are you playing?
    In any case...
    1. Valor points Boots and Bracers can and should be bought.
    2. You should run LFR-DS and BH every week regardless, it's ez gold and vp.
    3. IF you have a lot of gold available, you can also buy the legs crafted by blacksmiths. They are very expensive, so beware.
    4. Do you have arena weapons? if you do, that should be enough for DS.

thank you so much everyone for your advice.
i wanted to mention also that I'll be using my DK for this. I have a couple of LFR pieces, got really lucky last week and for the first times i did it, got the token for the head, hands and a bone-link fetish trinket (lvl 384 i think).

I will run the new dungeons as well.

my pally is a BS and i bought an epic recipe for some nice bracers, I guess I can use that as well.

    Visit AH
Get boosted through LFR DS with guildies (either a full or partial group)
get them to need on stuff and trade you the upgrades.

if your dont have the item by then, then run a few of the new heroics. job done.

I'd say step 1 is looking up the cookie cutter build/rotation for your class. You need to have an understanding that before anything else.

As far as gearing goes, it should be fairly quick. If you are a PvP player then I will assume you have a decent pvp set, and you have honor and conquest saved up.

First step, run LFR. You should have the ilvl to do it. Hopefully you get a piece or 2 out of the 8 bosses. The next easy step would be to use that honor and conquest for PvE gear. Convert it over to justice/valor and buy the best pieces you can with what you have. For the justice gear, I would stick with the tier pieces because you will be able to easly get as good 378's off-tier from the newish 5-mans. Then run 5-mans until you have most everything you need. You can get the Valor boots off the AH, or have a friend get them for you. You can also get the bracers, but I would say you should look into getting the crafted bracers before the valor ones (they are generally better, check that for your class/spec). If your guild is holding onto the Essence of Corruption, you could also get the crafted legs made.

Once you are in at least all 378's you will be able to get pulled through Normal DS. You can keep running LFR to get practice on your rotation, and the fights.

I had a healer in full PVP gear. Ran a few Cataclysm regs until I had enough gear with spirit. Wiped a few groups due to going OOM, but that was more L2P issues on my part than my gear. Then I started queuing for the Hour of Twilight heroics. Did those until I had enough to get in LFR, then did LFR until I had ~380. Took me less than a week to go from full crafted 358 PVP to 380+ PVE.

This was a healer though, which is even harder because you have almost no mana regen in PVP gear. Should be a piece of cake if you're a DPS, since there's essentially no numbers checks in LFD/LFR.

Hardest part is going to be flying under the radar of gear snobs, which if you do your job and keep quiet isn't too bad.

I did LFR again last night and got a pretty good bracer and boots. Starting to love LFR.
Imma' check maxdps.com (i think that's the name) and finish gearing up. Looks like guild can use me as a frost DK.

Thanks everyone for your helpful responses.

If you're decked in 403 ilvl pieces just use them, and fill in the blanks with 378-384 ilvl items from LFR/Firelands/JP vendor/VP vendor/3 dungeons for the rest, you'll do fine.

Agreed. DPS in PvP gear is the most forgiving of the three. As long as you are doing good DPS, not many will care. Some will moan about it but most group I have met just didn't care as long as the DPS is good.

If you're a rogue, get 20k gold. Pay a guild to let you pickpocket Hagara with 10k, use the other 10 for phase 1 of the quest.

Dont think he's a rogue since he's asking about BS crafted items.

    on topic
All previously stated new hc's, raidfinder, VP gear.... and i 1 thing i would like to add:
If your guild has been doing DS for quite some time they should have most, if not all BS recipes and more than enough essences to craft you 397 legs and bracers with minimal cost around 1.5-2k gold for the rest of the mats.
