I think Marvel has better heroes overall but a few from DC top my favorites, which I'm sure a lot of people will be in the same boat, so it's a tough call. Maybe making a poll asking which publisher has your favorite single comic/hero would net a better result.
DC would probably dominate due to Batman, hence why i asked people to consider all of their heroes not just their favourite.
