Well i was discussing something over at MMORPG and it just struck me.
Having a strict policy about gold sellers and powerlevelers in GW2 is actually a good thing for the game and ANET
i mean,in a game where there are many lets call them "chinese farmers" sometimes companies dont want to ban them because by banning an acount that does that is like losing a great potential revenue of subscription money and we all know that not all companies ban every bot/gold seller out there. Now its like this
If you find 10000 acounts that fall in those categories if you ban them all its like losing 10000*15$(abjust thones numbers for a spesific region)a month, thats al lot of money and they will probably re buy the game but you might have lost quite some revenue especially since those acounts are usually from china where you pay by the hour or something like that and you dont buy the game. Now imagine this
The same people buy the game ANET bans them, they buy it again,ANET bans them again.hence and repeat(as long as its profitable for them or at least seems profitable for them)to me it seems that the whole B2P model its more profitable for the company if they just ban outright those people than just ban a part of them and all of them fearing that they might lose a lot of money.
Now i know that in a game with million of players baning some thousands it might seem nothing but those thousands give back hundred of thousands in revenue and cutting them all at once its not good for the investors.Thats why most of the time they just ban a few of them.
Well what do you think?
