z506 not working in surround sound

so i picked up the 5.1 z506 surround sound and when i plug it in with the 3 wires going to the back of the computer it doesnt work, but works when i only plug it into the back for stereo sound. the front 2 speakers work, but the center channel and back l&r do not. so no 5.1. when i put it in the audio manager, and click the rear speakers sound comes from the front 2 only. is this a hardware problem you think or just software and i need to play with the plugs more?

You've set up speakers in your soundcards software to use 5.1 output i'm assuming?

You'll need to adjust the sound card software and/or your windows speaker settings to utilize 5.1. It's more than likely defaulted to stereo.
