Seems like most things I can think of myself is already mentioned.

I absolutely love Cthulhu Saves the World, so smooth gameplay, great music and most noteworthy is the humor in the descriptions of the enemies (be sure to check for the Fire Fairy)

Also Heroes of Might and Magic is a great series of this, I myself like some others prefer the third game better than the others, but the last game is also pretty good in my opinion.

Final Fantasy 7 exist for computer, but im not sure if you can grab it legally anywhere. Always worth the time to play(again).

I know its not computer games but If you get a bit of money laying around invest in a DS they have tons and tons of turned based games and its all about gameplay and storyline compared to pc/console games.
