Just got new parts for my pc now windows cant detect my harddisk

Just got new parts for my windows, including a motherboard, for my computer. So had to install windows on it again. Now it cant detect my hard disk, it is only detecting my external hard disk that is connected via usb (dont ask why its in i was trying something), and my dvd rom where windows 7 is on. But it does not detect my 500 gb hard disk so it cant install windows on it.

1 thing that may be good to know is that before i had vista, now i am installing windows 7.

Check to make sure your hard drive is recognized in the BIOS. If it is you may need to change the SATA controller from AHCI to IDE. You may also need to change the sata port you have plugged your hard drive into.

Double check the connector, I had a sata cable disconnected once when I tinkered with my pc.
