Worst moment ever, anything to do with soccer.
Best moment ever, any football interception that results in a TD (those are my favorite.)

Are we talking US Sports history? Or World Sports History?

I'm not a hockey fan, but I'd have to think that the 1980 'Miracle on Ice' has to be up there.

As for worst? (at least for the US)

    - 15-20 year long Steroid Era in MLB. Looking back and thinking about all of the records that were, not only broken, but left in the dust ... very disheartening. 8 of the top 15 and 6 of the top 10 All Time HR Leaders came out of that era. Bonds, McGwire and Sosa by themselves account for 7 of the top 10 Single Season HR Records. You have to go all the way down to no. 7 to find a player not from the Steroid Era (Roger Maris).

    - BALCO scandal. Not only named MLB players like Bonds and Giambi but NFL players like Bill Romanowski and Olympian Marion Jones, who eventually 'returned' the 5 medals she won at the Sydney Olympics.

    - 1919 Black Sox. Easily one of the worst events (if not the worst) in MLB history. Saw 8 players, some probably HoFer's banned for life.

Stevie Davis to David Healy - shame they can't do that shit for Rangers!

This would purely be a subjective matter i suppose, but i'd suggest if you look at the best moments in certain sports you've really gotta think of stuff like the last day of the regular season in Baseball last year - you can't tell me that wasn't exciting watching the wildcard go down to the last swing of the bat nearly in both leagues, that was something else. In football i could probably think of things like Zidanes goal for Real Madrid at Hampden in 2002 or the years of watching so many Brazil squads at world cups just mesmerise & tease you with their brilliance - or even very recently Messi knocking 5 in the other night, on a personal level watching my club win 9 in a row or getting to the UEFA cup final. So it's purely down to sport of choice on that front.

Worst, well i think that you could probably sum it up with one word - doping, it covers a multitude of sports across all continents and has left a mark which can't be ignored but by the same measure has different levels of acceptance, in Athletics for instance it's been vehemently hated for years while the major leagues in the states are only now catching up to that. Individual aspects of it would probably include the looney tunes era in MLB, Ben Johnson or Marion Jones and well, it'd be hard to see much light in certain aspects of cycling! Again on a personal level i'd have to say 2nd January 1971 - the Ibrox Disaster, 66 men & boys went to the match that day and never returned (including an uncle of mine - ofcourse i'm much too young to have met him), unfortunately not a unique situation but one which hurts fans of many clubs.
