Clearly, most people in this thread are aware where some heroes play as a carries and some as supports. If you want to mess around and play an omni as a carry, go ahead. It's doable. But if you had the omni playing support, and the items on someone like a Weaver, mordred, PL, etc., you'd be in a much better position.
This is for two reasons mainly. One is the fact that most carries have a steroid. Weaver geminate, PL juxtapose, void bash, PA crit, jugg crit, leoric crit, sniper headshot, kunkka tidebringer, gyro flak cannon, medusa split shot, luna glaives. There are a few exceptions, but for the most part, damage or IAS on these heroes provides a bigger benefit than it would on a treant, omni, dazzle, etc. You can cast empower on a carry, or weave on enemies, or follow someone with degen aura, whether or not you have farm.
The second reason is that if you played a support like dazzle as a carry, well now he is clearly the #1 kill priority for enemy team. Take him out, and your team has lost their right-clicker and their heal/shallow grave. Or omni for example. I'd rather have an omni using his abilities from behind the teamfight than being in front and getting focused.
