Well that's why this thread exists guys

IMO I'm alright with the computer forum having the most strict moderation. We are dealing with real peoples' money, we are greatly influencing their decision to spend hundreds/thousands of dollars. The quality control on the posts and information should be nothing short of the best, everything should be clear and concise.

Also they finally built a quantum computer inside a diamond:

I usually get caught arguing with trolls and get myself infracted because of it in the computers forums though for trying to provide good information.

That's a pretty interesting read, I'll have to look through it a bit more at work.

Does the shroud on the Sabertooth really make much of a difference?

    The short answer is no.

The long answer is still no, but it does offer some cooling potential (which the board really doesn't need) and nice asthetics. Some have removed the shroud completely, some chose to leave it on.

That looks awesome Xuvial, I'm not normally a fan of LEDs (especially blue LEDs), but you made it work well.

It's supposed to work with stock cooling or an additional 50mm fan, neither of which people tend to use. So it's basically pointless.
It's fully detachable but I keep it on for looks, as do most Sabertooth owners

P67 was the only generation of Sabertooth with shroud, it was unusual for Asus to do it. The sabertooth series' most attractive feature continues to be robust durability and solid overclocking at an affordable price.

It's interesting to see the generations...

...I forgot where I was going with this.

Whoa really? What assist fan are you using? Most fans at those sizes tend to scream.

Personally I like the shroud, xuvial's build is a good example why, it ends up with a very simple and clean look

^ I wish they made shrouds for more motherboards.... it is exactly how Cyanotical put it, it looks simple and CLEAN.

Oh and hi, my glorious return is had!

Which was my point exactly; it looks very asthetically pleasing. It serves very little real funtion though as the 2-5 degrees lower temperature it achieves is hardly needed on a 1155 board.

    AsRock: http://www.asrock.com/mb/index.asp?s=1155
    Gigabyte: http://www.gigabyte.com/products/lis...jid=2&p=2&v=24
    Asus: http://www.asus.com/Motherboards/Int...1155/Intel_Z77
    MSI: http://www.msi.com/product/mb/#/?sk=...%20i3/i5/i7%29

Basically just go to the manufacturer websites, look for their motherboard selections and click on the Z77 link...

I ask because the shroud is back for the Z77 Sabertooth. In a video that Tweaktown made with an Asus guy they were talking about how it reduces temperatures by so much (something like 10 degrees) and I was wondering how true those assertions were (although the guy from Asus didn't seem to have prepared himself very well for the piece to camera).

Another shroud Sabertooth, and none other than the Z77 chipset! I notice you cannot get the P67 Sabers anymore, so this might be another option for me for a new motherboard.... hmm

However I like the ASRock boards too... and the P8Z77 WS does not look like a bad idea either.

    Grrrr so many choices! >_<

And is Asus REALLY not planning to make a full ATX Maximus V? All I see is the Gene and it's a measly mATX.

    You have signed your warrant.

Demon must build an Ivy rig now with the Sabertooth Z77.

If you don't, we will all be disappoint. ;p

Think I saw in a video that they are planning an ATX Maximus V Formula for about a month after launch.
