Just had a look through the configurator thingy for that Sager NP9170, and I do love to see that '30 Day "No Dead Pixel" Guarantee' always cropping up for $60. Pretty outrageous how many companies are actually charging for what most people consider 'acceptable' quality these days =]

Actually, that no dead pixel guarantee is an option though and the chances of getting one are slim from my experience buying LCD displays and a couple of laptops. I was told it is there for piece of mind when I had asked about it. There are some graphic artists and others that can't stand one spot on a display even if it is in the far corner. I have a friend that is that picky about it.

Me, I couldn't really care so long as they aren't in the center of the display and most people will toss one out of there is a dead pixel found in the middle glaring at you. Fortunately, warranties even without the "no dead pixel" do cover if it is in the middle of the display glaring at you.

Regarding being "acceptable" though, dead pixels in LCD displays are acceptable but there is a limit and that limit varies with the size of the display and that you will find anywhere you go. It has to do with the manufacturing process of the displays themselves. I had to Google it to get more information how they are assembled. Really kind of neat to learn if you're a geek for knowledge. ^_^

Alright chaps today is the day. Today we find out if the waiting has been worth it. Many people on the Internets, including, me have been waiting to see what ivy will bring. . IK many have been debating between waiting for ivy and a SB and z77 combo... I wanted to buy a 3930k a while ago. But I didn't i knew dawgs. I knew that I should be an avid consumer and check to see if I can save ~$600AU on a CPU and only sacrifice about ~25% CPU power. I have only one thing to saw OVERCLOC3D.net better have a review up soon or I am gonna freak the fuck out!

It's going to bring jack-all improvement to gaming performance over an i5...so we're really only waiting to see how well it does in Cinebench. And other synthetic stuff. An i7 2700K would probably give IB a run for it's money when both chips are overclocked.

That is what I am hoping for my wee little i5 750 runs wow&BF3 @ ultra so gaming upgrades are pointless.

Err no I was referring to i5 2500K, which sorta squishes an i5 750 in games >_< it's really quite a huge jump in stuff like WoW, Skyrim, BF3, etc. Don't get me wrong, i5 750 is still pretty decent for gaming.

I remember when i5 750 was the quad-core gaming beast of it's time and we were recommending it in all our builds. Good times! And then SB came around to literally face-fuck every other CPU in the world :O

Unless the prices have improved, I do not think they are worth it.

Well I'm probably going to get spammed or trolled for asking this but, I'm going to be in the market for a new laptop within the next 3-6 months and am looking for a good company to start looking at for hardware. Price point will be about $1500US and it will only be running Wow, D3, torchlight2 and some older games as well, basically I don't need a powerhouse system but I would like the most bang for my buck. Only major requests will be a decent screen size, 17" would be good, and above average cooling, I use a fan base but it's annoying sometimes. As this will be being carried about in a rig between stops it would be nice if it's also a little tougher that the norm without it being a toughbox. Ty for the suggestions in advance.
