More fans = more $ they can charge for the chassis. =/
Especially when they use these tiddly little 40mm fans that probably scream like the jet engine on an F15.It's funny how mobo manufacturers are now sticking their own fans on Z77 and X79 motherboards. Did VRM/mobo temps really go up by that much over the years? Why are they so crazy about cooling the mobo?
But wait we're not done! Asus stuck watercooling barbs on their latest Maximus V Formula (Z77) so you can get some extreme cooling going across those VRM's:

I can't help but think these overkill VRM and chipset cooling setups are just a gimmick.
Pretty much. My Abit IP35 Pro had 4-phase power and it easily handled 1.42V with my Q6600 running at 3.4GHz. The mosfets would hit ~90C. To be fair, the newer CPUs have integrated memory controllers now, but nothing that would warrant all these 12/16/20-phase VRM designs we keep seeing. Not until we start pushing some serious voltage to the processor...well beyond the practical limitations of CPU air cooling anyway.

Have any of you guys ever ordered from http://www.performance-pcs.com or http://www.frozencpu.com? They're the only sites that I can find that carry the BitFenix Alchemy cable extensions in white, but I don't wanna order from them and get ripped off.
i've ordered tons of stuff from frozencpu, they are trustworthy
Awesome, I think I'm gonna order a 24-pin extension and an 8-pin extension from them, I also want two 6-pin extensions, but they're out of stock.
An unrelated question: I know the H100 has a 1-pin CPU power connector (fits the 4 pin connector on the mobo) and a Molex connector, does anyone know if I have to use both, or can I just use the 1-pin connector?
The one pin connector just reports the pump rpm to the motherboard, so you still need to plug in the molex connector
Alright, thanks for the answer... I guess I'll be picking up a Molex extension too.
ive also ordered stuff from frozencpu, was funny when i got the box it came in a tortilla shell box haha
That does not reassure me in the slightest Nyq. -.-"
But, if Cyanotical says they're trustworthy, I'll take his word for it.
They're fine. They're actually the US distributor for a lot of those EU based watercooling brands.
