Just got my computer however apparently the heatsink got loose -.- so I had to reattach the thing and I fixed it. I was so scared =/ of waiting another week

Oh and reattaching a heatsink is possibly one of the most horrid things I've ever tried to do SO ANNOYING <<

Yeah, the heatsink is probably one of the worst parts of assembling a computer, had so much hassle with the Hyper212 on a case with no mobo tray.

Like I got the first clip right but the second clip wasn't. Then I get the second clip right but the first clip wasn't; It was literally a repeat for 30 mins til I finally got it -.- I also found a plastic shard in the heatsink of the center core I have no clue if that's bad or not but once I reattached it. It was all fixed and relief came into my body :O

    Whew

Started doing some overclocking with my 3570k. Hitting that temp-roof happens sooner than you think, already at 1.28V my chip was going above 90C.

My best boot was 5.05GHz at 49x103 but that wasn't stable enough to even open up Firefox. I was pushing 1.36V which would most likely push the temperatures beyond 100C at load.

My second best was 4.9GHz at 49x100. This was at least stable to run 1-2 tests of IBT, but reaching 96C almost instantly (1.325V) I decided to cancel the test.

I had it fully stable at 4.692GHz (46x102) at 1.285V (?). Ran a full 10 tests in IBT but reached an alarmingly high 93C.

I have it now at 4.4GHz (44x100) at 1.208V. Reaching 77C at full load I believe this is as far as I'll push it for my day-to-day clock. Might even dial it down to 4.3GHz (I had it running 4.04GHz at 1.115V, which resulted in about 54C).

I'm considering either dropping my clock to 4200mhz, or back to stock 3300mhz and undervolting. Not sure which yet.

I wonder how low you can get a 2500K before it goes ballistic on you...

Wouldn't want to go above 90°C

95c is the TJmax at which point the chip will shutdown to prevent damange, and you're pretty damn close.

Hint: stop overclocking with stock cooler. Spend $25-30 on an aftermarket cooler, keep your chip safe.

What monitor setup are you running again Cya? Because I don't know what you're running that would warrant an "upgrade" from dual 590's.

    i've got a single u2711, 2560x1440

but im looking more at usability, the 590s are much better at cuda then they are at gaming, dual 680s would give me roughly the same performance but more compatibly in games

also, as awesome as the cosmos 2 is, it has problems, the main one being size, i took my computer in to let our cyber patriot team use it for their competition, and at 102 lbs, its not something i want to do again, it also has an issue of being very big, but not engineered right to take full advantage of that space

I need more help from you kind-hearted souls of the computer forum!
I just had a mini-heart attack, because I realized that I had ordered the OEM version of the 500gb caviar blue, so it's not going to come with a SATA cable right? Do motherboards come with them or do I need to order another cable? I don't think I'll stay sane for another week if I don't get my computer...
    It's this btw http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16822136769
It's not actually from newegg, but nonetheless it's the same model number as the one I ordered

Yeah I had a feeling issues would crop up sooner or later.

    Any cases on your mind?

The motherboard should come with a range of anywhere from 2 to 4 maybe if you're lucky, 6 SATA cables.

    What motherboard did you order?

ASUS p8z77-v or -pro, can't remember which, but either way I'm relieved to hear that they usually ship with cables

after seeing Marest's build, i kinda link the FT02, but that would mean dropping down to a 120mm rad or getting an H80, as im not a fan of case modding, the 120mm rad isn't a problem, i have several lying around, but the H80 is a bit more enticing, it's much simpler to work with, in fact i've been using them in the last few servers i've built

I may also switch from W7Ult to 2K8R2 depending on how the W8RC is

I might also upgrade my SSDs to twin intel 520 240GBs
