Confusing Raid Lock Question - H FL

I have a 6/7 Heroic FL lockout that I extended.

When I tried to enter to make sure everything was ok, it told me that I couldn't because I needed to defeat Rag on normal first (which I haven't done on this toon).

So assuming someone else who has the Firelands normal achieve goes in first, will I be able to enter afterwards to do Heroic Rag?

Have the raid leader (who I'm assuming is the one who made it heroic in the first place) extend their lockout and enter first. *The problem is that when you are entering the game is trying to set it to heroic with your character as lead. *It then runs into the problem where you haven't killed Normal Rag so it can't switch it to heroic.
