    Gym Recommendations?

Hey MMO-Champions, I am looking for a new gym because my old one has closed down due to the rough economy. So can anyone recommend any of the following gyms that are close to my house (Sand Diego area):

    Pure Fitness
    24 Hour Fitness
    Gold's Gym
    Tri-City Wellness
    LA Fitness
    Crossfit
    Powerhouse Gyms
    Planet Fitness

I am looking for something where I can train on my own, without waiting for machines, so crowds are bad and classes are unnecessary. The cheaper the better, but it MUST be sanitary. (I am a germaphobe) My workout consists of 50 mins cardio, 20 minutes arms, 15 legs, 10 core, 5 stretch. My schedule is very flexible, so any hours will work.

    Thanks for the help.

Rather than doing 50 mins cardio, 20 mins arms, do 60 mins of deadlifts, 10 mins of deadlift supersets

I recommend the gym in Viridian City, it will really push you to better yourself.

Try 24 hour fitness at night time. It's never crowded.
Mostly stay away from gyms at 5:30 ish, that's like the lunch rush equivalent for a gym, it's super packed, due to people getting off of work.
If you go at night, it'll be less crowded and more open, no machines taken really.

Or you can do this at home

Crossfit is one of the best around... i would go with that... they push you. where as a normal gym you tend to have to push your self.

I grew up in San Diego and used to use a Family Fitness Center there, was horrible but never realized it until i joined 24 hour fitness here in Colorado. My gym is huge, never a wait on machines other than mid day cardio, treadmill etc. I lift in middle of night so no wait on anything. Honestly any of those gyms should have 1 week free trials so i'd do it for all of them then decide, plus you'd get around 2 months free out of your search :-)
i've also lifted at a few gold's gyms, they were nice every time but also the only gym ive ever openly been approached/offered steroids, doesnt mean much just an fyi

Your routine is counterproductive also it appears that your shoulders, chest and back won't be trained at all. Your routine is focused on getting you big arms and a six pack, it will achieve neither. I suggest you spend less time worrying about germs and what gym you are going to choose and spend more time doing research on a proper routine. Also I can understand being a germaphobe but you don't get germs from someone's sweat, you are just as likely to catch something from any gym.

    This is a good idea.

I've personally gone to gold's up here in Canada on and off for over 2 years and am quite satisfied. when i joined they offered a workout management system called activtrax. they stopped offering it since then for unknown reasons, but since the deal was for a lifetime membership on activtrax, i still get it.

if it's available at any of the local gyms, you might want to investigate it. it's a quite good system IMO and easy to follow.

I am a marathon runner; my goal is not to get huge, beefy arms. My goal is to get under 3 hours 5 minutes (I would like to run in Boston) My best is 3 hours 14 mins.

Well I don't know much about marathon runners but I don't think building muscle is quite optimal. The heavier your arms and legs are the more weight you have to move. The bigger the muscles in your arms and legs the more oxygen and energy they consume. Getting bigger and heavier may be counter productive. You're best bet is probably looking up a site specific to running or marathons. However from the few marathon runners I have spoken to what I have that works best for them is doing 1 mile runs as fast as they can to build up speed and endurance.

If you want to be a marathon runner you should just go out and run, getting extra muscles in the gym will only slow you down.

If ur a germaphobe, better get ur gym at home.
Otherwise, just use towel on the machine and train your ass off.
Also I don't get your 20 min arms, 15 min legs.. Thats the most f*ckd up thing I've ever seen.
Your legs need about 2-3 times more time than ur arms for sure! They are 2-3 times bigger remember?
    Id say:
    Warm-up
    20min legs
    15min chest
    15min back
Then do ur arms in this sequence: Biceps > Shoulders > Triceps
Your biceps will be a little worked up already from ur back excercises.
Do ur cardio after the muscle training or it will be useless. Your fatburning won't start before a certain time of training and your cardio will exaust you before your wieghttraining has started. So u won't burn that much fat and u'll be unable to train as hard as otherwise. Also always start with legs > chest > back.
You always need to start with the bigger musclegroups, since they need the best time of your training, when ur fresh. U can do shit like triceps etc at the end. If ur not that big yet, just keep up with basics. Nothing grows as fast as deadlifts, squats, bench, pull ups etc. No isolement exercise can do that.
When ur big enough, on a low fat % go for the 'little things'. You need to put some clay on ur workspace before you go and do the details.

Do this training 3 times a week for progress, 2 times for maintance.
If you wanna train harder/more, go split instead of full-body.
    Go push/pull or w/e.

    Soz for the bad english!

EDIT: Just saw your a marathon runner. ¬¬ And u train 20 min arms, 15 min legs?...
Go train ur legs, core and cardio your ass off. Do ur Legs first, then core, then cardio.
The best training for you is not with the heavy weights (unless your a sprinter) U can try a TRX training, its really good for specific sport strength, stability and muscle conditioning.

I never really liked cross fit. Because of the half reps on pull ups they do.
