    Soundcard identification and questions.

A friend of mine gave me a Soundblaster sound card. He says it's a Fatal1ty and according to the Amazon.com pictures it looks like one. However, on the back of the card the model number is SB0880 which is an X-Fi Titanium. The Titanium doesn't have a cover over all the chips and resistors and the card I have does, though. Also, am I better off using this card or the on board sound on my Gigabyte GA-Z68X-UD3H-B3?

This is what it looks like: http://www.amazon.com/dp/B0018EFGTM
But the model numbers do not match up.

The titanium is sold both with and without the cover.

Alright, thanks. Now, should I use it?

The titanium should perform better than the Realtek ALC889 used on the Gigabyte board, so yes. In particular, it should be much more potent with older XP-era titles that can use EAX, though you'll need to install the Alchemy software for that. (Drivers page)
