Guild invite addons.. :/

It's really starting to get annoying that whenever i'm online i get constantly spammed with instant macros that invite you too a guild and whisper some message stating why you should join.

Before people say "just turn on reject guild invites" or w/e, that only fixes half the problem since your still being spam whispered.

Also, Why are blizzard even allowing people to use this addon? it IS a bot, its an automated service, its not like the GL is doing it manually.

I really don't see the difference between this addon and people farming herbs using a BOT, They're both equally annoying.

Download addons (such as Badboy) and filter out the usual words. "Would you like to join" - "... is recruiting" - "Guild perks"

Because it doesnt affect the economy like gold farmers or exploit their work for dungeons or raids or pvp, Blizzard will allow it.

I have a macro just for that!
When some1 trys to invite you just make a macro like this:

Well actually those that spam everyone with addons/macros usually have a fully active guild (1000 members), with the cash flow perk raking in the gold - it does effect the economy, just not very much.

Badboy+Badboy_Guilded removes all guild advertising from your channels.

Just right-click their name and select "Report spam".
If they keep whispering/inviting you, make a ticket, asking that these people are stopped.

Essentially saying it doesn't affect the economy is correct, but as people have mentioned most of the people doing it are using the Cash Flow perk to earn money for themselves/friends.

But it still seems silly, it should be bannable, its a BOT after all, BOTS aren't allowed.

Heck if they aren't banning it because it doesn't affect the economy, then i should be allowed one that can auto fly me places since it doesn't affect anything

On topic: my method to deal with spam of invites is to... choose one and get invited there. I get exp bonuses, other perks, raid the guildbank if I'm on a really new server

AFAIK, these addons can't do this automatically anymore. The recent patch broke that API. The spammer has to now click a button in the recruitment addon that will search for players unguilded and certain other parameters and then send the pst and join invite. So in a sense it's not botting.

I'm pretty sure none of them are automated. The only ones I've heard of require you to click a button to invite each time it finds an unguilded player, so you have to be there to do it.

Just a short winded way of standing in a city inviting anyone that's unguilded.

This is the addon most use, to not get spammed you simply use this.

Isn't there an option built into the in-game interface to block guild invites? lol

Doesn't block whispers.

I do agree that this is really annoying though. I can't play any of my unguilded alts without getting spammed with whispers and ginvites every few minutes.
