Q3A for me due to getting a reliable connection kinda "late"
WoW. I was blown away. I never thought it would be so big, free of loading screens between zones, have so much content...I basically thought that all you did was run around killing small mobs, picking up stuff to equip and nothing else. Everything was enjoyable, and when I got to 80 it felt like I had an entire new world opening up.
I have played the game so much that I have almost 10k achi points already...people I know from TBC or Vanilla usually have 10-12k
The online player of Halflife was the first online game, which lead me into Quake III Arena. Unf, dat Slash. <3
And that somehow brought me to EQ. And then I was doomed forever to a life of MMOs.
Axetoface.
Heroes of might & magic 1 , well it was through a early VPN tunnel. Maybe i played Quake 1 before that. Had a clan at school called "iQ"(gotta have a Q in the guildnames"
My very first online game ever was Diablo via the battle.net, later came Ultima Online and then Dark Age of Camelot, Diablo II, then in 2006 WoW.
Actually i switched from DAoC to WoW because almost everyone I knew in DAoC switched to WoW and a whole lot more did too. Therefore the server I was playing on was nearly empty. Killed it for me.
First I hated that ominous WoW for doing that to "my" MMORPG, but then I decided: If you can't beat 'em, join 'em. Concerning gaming one of my best decisions I could make. And concerning my private life too, 'cause in 2010 I met my then future fiancee in the game :-)
Age of Empires Gold Edition back on a dial up connection on my family's only computer in our kitchen was my first online gaming experience.
