Illusion of Gaia. I love the 7 2D FFs, Zelda, and all the other classics, but that one deserves the most attention.

A Link to the Past is a big favorite of mine. Golden Sun is close, I spent many fun hours on my GBA with that game.

Haha love it! Shining Force was the first RPG I've ever played and it's the series that got me hooked on the genre =p

Mother 3, Earthbound, and all of the Pokemon games. I haven't played a whole lot of 2D RPGs, but those ones are all awesome.
And I know this gets pointed out in every thread like this, but Zelda is not really an RPG.

Suikoden II would be my favorite, though I love the entire series. Other than that, Chrono Trigger, Earthbound, Legend of Mana, and Grandia are some of my other favorites.

Final Fantasy VI and The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past are probably my two favorite games of all time. I'm currently in the midst of playing the virtual console version of FFVI on the Wii.

I'm not even going to try and list all of my favourite 2d rpgs and instead list my favourite one in recent memory.
Radiant Historia. I actually liked the protagonist, which is an incredibly rare thing for me with jrpgs.

I love Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past. I'm not sure where my Super Nintendo went, so I play it on an emulator now.

my favorite would be final fantasy iv, best story for a 16 bit game, played it when i was 13 and still loving it 14 years later.
I'm for the N'd time playing Breath of Fire 1 on my GBA, I played the original from snes so it gives me so much memories, i was 12 and didnt know shit about english, the game actually made my english better!
