Little lore questions that bug you

Saw this thread on the official forums and wondered what little lore questions you people have that bug you.

    Here are some of mine:

    What happened with Chromatus?

What are the Naga doing with Neptulon? And how will this effect Azeroth?

Why is the Horde still in Ashenvale fighting the Night Elves for wood, when Azshara has been taken (for the most part) by the Goblins?

What the heck happened to Gallywix, and how is the leadership of the Bilgewater Cartel affected by his disappearance?

How did the Hozen originate? We already have origination stories for the Saurok, Mogu, Jinyu, and Yaungol.

How did the Mogu gain their fleshcrafting abilities?

Was the rest of Grim Batol cleared of Twilight's Hammer? We only cleared one level of one side of the city, there were Twilight's Hammer cultists working in the sub-levels and throughout the city.

Why did Uldum show no sign of Qiraji or Silithid intrusion?

If Pandaria was connected to the rest of the world pre-Sundering, why are there no traces of Pandaren (or Mogu/Mantid) archaeology on the other continents?

Some of the Ghostly Pandaren in Stormstout Brewery mention Outland. How do they know of this?

Why do Pandaren not fear Trolls when they first see them? It's said the the Zandalari were almost like 'bogeymen' to the Pandaren children.

If he was part of the Twilight's Hammer, what was Milhouse Manastorm doing in Outland (assuming he was captured there), and if he was captured in Azeroth and taken to Draenor, when did this happen? Have the Naaru been running special ops missions on Azeroth? Also, how did the Naaru guard the keep?

When Humans were raised in Lordaeron, they took the appearance of a Forsaken. However, when Humans were raised as Death Knights, they kept their Human-like appearance. Why is this?

If Wisps are indeed Night Elven spirits, can they be controlled by Necromancers?

Uldum had a doomsday device. Ulduar had a device to send a request for 'reorigination' to the Titans. What does Uldaman have in it?

Have adventurers suffered any sort of radiation poisoning or something similar after venturing into Gnomeregon? And speaking of that, how much of the actual city did we clear? Most of the dungeon appeared to be parts related to manufacturing and tinkering.

What happened to Baron Geddon? We killed him in Hyjal and he didn't appear in Firelands.

What the heck is going on in Tol Barad? There were hints to some possible Old God-like curse or corruption.

It's been said that killing an Old God (for good) will destroy or kill Azeroth. How?

Who's the bigger villain? Legion or Old Gods?
    FFXIV - Maduin (Dynamis DC)

    - Why are the Revantusk Tribe a Horde faction while they are supposed to hate the Horde with a passion? And why weren't they with Zul'Jin during the Zul'Aman patch?

    - What could possibly be happening in Northern Plaguelands?

    - Whats up with the area west to Tirisfal Glades?

    - Why do the blood elves not replace the statues of Kael in Silvermoon?

    - Why is the Scarlet Crusade hostile to the playable humans? They are supposed to only hate any race other then human.

    - Why did Rexxar return to Outland?

    So far my questions

This was explained a long time ago on the old wow website. It's was removed when they redid the website but this is what was said before:

Then the courageous orc Thrall began reassembling a new Horde. He resolved that his people would return to their shamanistic traditions and establish a nation of their own. Word of the revitalized Horde and its noble goals soon reached the Revantusk trolls, who were still dwelling in Lordaeron. The news stirred the trolls' interest, and the tribe immediately dispatched its speediest runners to make contact with the orcs.

Thrall was wary of the trolls at first, but he came to see that the Revantusk trolls were unique among forest trolls in a fundamental way. The Revantusk tribe had never had much in the way of the fighters or resources, and so it had instead decided to specialize in the trickier art of negotiation. By the time they spoke with Thrall, the Revantusks had acquired a reputation for trustworthiness that was well deserved.

The trolls were impressed by Thrall and his dream. Even so, they remembered the recklessness and corruption of the Old Horde. Thus, the Revantusks declined to rejoin the Horde, but they did agree to a pact of friendship and mutual assistance.

Today the Revantusk tribe continues to live in a village along the southeast coast of the Hinterlands. Due to the tribe's small size and the Revantusks' pact with Thrall, all other forest trolls regard the Revantusk trolls as weaklings and enemies. Similarly, the honorable Revantusks regard other forest trolls as traitors to the New Horde.
Why did Rexxar return to Outland?
To check on his people and make amends with his father as it was explained in the quests he gave you.

Go figure, an interesting thread I here has almost no responses, but "fuck mop and blizz sucks lawl" threads getting page 30+

OT - The Neptulon question I believe was answered by Blizzard in a short story, or a book.......I think. If that's not the case, maybe I'm confusing that with people constantly asking Blizz to finish it in such a way since the expansion is done.

Locked away somewhere to be used again someday. He was basically a one shot plot they didn't want to kill off due to his potential.

What are the Naga doing with Neptulon? And how will this effect Azeroth?
They went to take his trident, which is said to allow control of the oceans themselves. Whether they succeeded or not was going to be utilized in the cancelled raid. Expect it to be another plot point in a future expansion instead.

Why is the Horde still in Ashenvale fighting the Night Elves for wood, when Azshara has been taken (for the most part) by the Goblins?
Azshara does not have as many trees, and those that are located in the region were likely either poisoned or obliterated by goblin experiments. The goblins are not very eco-friendly.

What the heck happened to Gallywix, and how is the leadership of the Bilgewater Cartel affected by his disappearance?
He never went anywhere, he just does not appear in the game. One of the recent books had him sucking up to Garrosh and spending most of his time hanging out near Grommash Hold.

How did the Hozen originate? We already have origination stories for the Saurok, Mogu, Jinyu, and Yaungol.
While it's never been said, it's likely they originated in a similar manner to the Jinyu, the waters of the Vale increasing the intelligence of local apes.

How did the Mogu gain their fleshcrafting abilities?
That's one of the big plot points for the expansion. I wouldn't expect a good answer till Garrosh starts trying to reverse engineer the process later. Vol'jin points out it's very dark magic, so could be tied to the Old Gods, who were known to be able to transform flesh (the curse of flesh comes to mind).

Was the rest of Grim Batol cleared of Twilight's Hammer? We only cleared one level of one side of the city, there were Twilight's Hammer cultists working in the sub-levels and throughout the city.
Likely yes, the whole Highlands was taken during the events of Cataclysm, when the Bastion of Twilight fell.

Why did Uldum show no sign of Qiraji or Silithid intrusion?
The Silithid and Quraji were nearly entirely wiped out before the Uldum barrier was disabled by the Cataclysm. There are very few left to start an invasion of the newly revealed landscape.

If Pandaria was connected to the rest of the world pre-Sundering, why are there no traces of Pandaren (or Mogu/Mantid) archaeology on the other continents?
Same reason you don't find Vrykul or Nerubian archaeology anywhere but Northrend, the Pandaren were centralized in the Pandaria region and didn't really travel much. They didn't learn the joys of "wanderlust" until Liu Lang decided to leave Pandaria sometime after the Sundering. Mogu were the same. Mantid are an evolution of the Aqir, but since they evolved to be so different from the Quraji or the Nerubians, they wouldn't share similar archaeology.

Some of the Ghostly Pandaren in Stormstout Brewery mention Outland. How do they know of this?
Spirits are tied to the Twisting Nether. It's even considered a part of the afterlife since WC2, and more hints of the dead traveling the Nether have popped up even in quests. Since Outland floats like a pocket inside the Twisting Nether, they would know of it's existence.

Why do Pandaren not fear Trolls when they first see them? It's said the the Zandalari were almost like 'bogeymen' to the Pandaren children.
Because they were not told to fear "trolls", they were told to fear the Zandalari.

This is one of those things we likely will never know. It was sort of just thrown out there and they don't care to go far explaining it.

When Humans were raised in Lordaeron, they took the appearance of a Forsaken. However, when Humans were raised as Death Knights, they kept their Human-like appearance. Why is this?
Forsaken were raised by the Plague, Death Knights are raised through general necromancy. The Plague warps the body, so that they sooner or later turn into Ghouls (thus the claw hands and feet, posture, etc...). The Forsaken raised to be Death Knights during the opening are ones that are killed a second time and then raised through the general necromancy.

If Wisps are indeed Night Elven spirits, can they be controlled by Necromancers?
Night Elves don't always become wisps. Some with strong ties to nature or the moon goddess will become wisps, others will become regular spirits. The wisps, due to these ties to the natural world, likely can't be bend by Necromancers, and if they did, they would revert to a regular spirit state.

Uldum had a doomsday device. Ulduar had a device to send a request for 'reorigination' to the Titans. What does Uldaman have in it?
Unlike Ulduar, which was a prison, and Uldum, which was housing for the re-origination device, Ulduman was simply a library for Norgannon, housing his "data disks".

Have adventurers suffered any sort of radiation poisoning or something similar after venturing into Gnomeregon? And speaking of that, how much of the actual city did we clear? Most of the dungeon appeared to be parts related to manufacturing and tinkering.
Good question, likely will never go touched.

What happened to Baron Geddon? We killed him in Hyjal and he didn't appear in Firelands.
Correction, we never killed him in Hyjal, we only weakened him. He likely will become a runner for the new Firelord.

What the heck is going on in Tol Barad? There were hints to some possible Old God-like curse or corruption.
Tol Barad was a magical prison utilized by Dalaran, Gilneas, and Kul Tiras. It likely has a lot of magical corruption due to whatever dark things they held in there.

It's been said that killing an Old God (for good) will destroy or kill Azeroth. How?
The Old Gods are bound to the planet like a massive parasite. If you "kill" them, the world itself will pretty much implode. Be aware, to have this happen you need to kill all of them, not some of them. You can kill some of them as long as one remains to keep the host "alive".

    - Why do the blood elves not replace the statues of Kael in Silvermoon?
Because as much as they hate him now, his family was still a part of the blood elven legacy.

    - Why is the Scarlet Crusade hostile to the playable humans? They are supposed to only hate any race other then human.
They didn't hate everyone other then humans. The mantra of the Scarlet Crusade is everyone that is not a Scarlet Crusader is just a plague-ridden future corpse just waiting to eat you. They saw even humans from Stormwind as infected carriers that needed to be purged. They used to have a Scarlet Bishop in the dungeons of the Cathedral in SW, he would give you the breadcrumb to go to SM. You head up there and meet a guy in Southshore that basically points out the bishop was sending you to be killed.

    - Why did Rexxar return to Outland?
To get back with his family. It's said in his quests.

Chromatus was the giant Twilight dragon from one of the novels, right? Pretty sure he died/imploded in the same book. Oh wait, I do recall people thinking Ultraxion should have been Chromatus, so maybe he didn't die, but I kind of thought he did from what I've heard.

The Orcs want Ashenvale because as you can see in Azshara, they've already eaten up almost all the resources there. Partly because Goblin tech tends to be pretty inefficient, but they're also on an expansionist bent so even without a real need they'd probably be trying to take out any neighboring enemies anyway.

Nothing's happened to Gallywix, he just hasn't been represented in-game. He's still the Goblin leader though.

Pretty sure the Mogu were either given their fleshcrafting abilities directly by the Titans, or they simply found Titan tech and figured out how to use it.

I know Un'goro stopped the Silitihid with the giant crystals seen on its western pathways. Unless the Silithid flew over the mountains or tunneled under (which they apparently didn't do or they could've easily taken over more than they did) those same crystals, coupled with being surrounded by mountains, likely kept them fairly contained to just Silithus.

Millhouse is apparently making another appearance next patch, so it's just a matter of his story not being completely told yet. In fact most of the answers should come with time; it's only if WoW was to end without answering them that we'd really need to start asking why.

Death Knights (that we play) were raised directly by the Lich King, and he's been proven to have the best necromantic powers in Azeroth. He was raising capable soldiers whose abilities he wanted, not just mindless zombies, so he was likely more picky with who he rose to be a DK, and probably didn't go around raising corpses that has been dead for more than a few days. Remember Sylvanas' body was mostly intact as well, after he had completely ripped out her soul.

I think Wisps are Night Elven spirits of a more ancestral or primal variety, and therefore not true Undead. I can't recall a single time we've talked to an actual Wisp (Aessina uses their model but is not an actual Wisp) and they only ever rally to protect nature, so they could be more of a soul that's devoted solely to protecting nature and has kind of fused more with it than just a ghost.

The Old Gods are apparently so embedded and intrinsically linked with the planet that they've become more symbiotes than parasites, and killing them would harm the planet because of this. This is why they're all imprisoned instead of already dead.

The Blood Elves have only existed without Kael's leadership for a few years, and before him there were other Sunstriders that ruled continuously for some time. The statues could be other members of the Sunstrider family that they have no ill-will towards. Plus, having only had a few years to heal and regroup, taking the time out to tear down and replace what could be hundreds of statues seems kind of frivolous compared to just maintaining their current precarious existence.

The Scarlet Crusade is incredibly racist, yes, but they're also all brainwashed at this point as well. Anyone not within the organization is obviously a threat, because if they weren't, well, they'd be a member already now wouldn't they? And anyone not a member is obviously in cahoots with the Scourge/Undead, their allegiance is obviously what's keeping them from joining.
Basically they're a bunch of crazies with a severe case of "us versus them" coupled with "if you're not with us you're against us" mentalities.

Venture to the Arcatraz and rescue the gnome, Millhouse Manastorm. Ensure his survival.
Millhouse wasn't captured for any wrongdoing, he was on the Arcatraz for some unspecified, presumably benign reason, and the ship got taken over by Kael'thas' forces while he was aboard. I don't know what happened to him between Arcatraz and Deepholm, but my guess would be that either he was undercover in the Twilight's Hammer or he fell in with them like all of the other people during the Cataclysm pre-launch event.

How on Earth do Night Elves seem to not know their own history when they are among the longest lived native inhabitants on Azeroth, as well as the most meticulous Lorekeepers and pursuers of knowledge on Azeroth.
Why does Brann have to go to Cenarius and Freya instead of Malfurion and Tyrande, both of whom are over 13000 years old, or any number of Night Elven scholars and Lorekeepers, to ask for information about ancient Azeroth.

She isn't a Naaru and if Blizzard has any integrity about their story or gives a damn at all about Night Elf lore they won't do this to her.

If the mogu statues are 'coming to life' all over the place, why has noone smashed the crap out of the 2 giant ones in the Vale.. and the dozens of smaller ones in the Shrine of 2 moons.. Seriously.

Not all Mogu statues are bound with spirits?
The only way they come to life is through spirit binding, which requires a spiritbinder to perform the magic. Who knows, they are there for a reason, maybe Garrosh will try to bind himself to the one on the right and Malkorok on the left one and go have a mogu party in the Vale?

That big one on the Golden Stair required a pretty elaborate ritual to animate. The colossi would undoubtedly require something much, much bigger. As for the ones in the Shrines, they're in a fairly well-defended position. If any mogu want to get in there and infuse them, they're welcome to give it the old college try.

How did Kil'jaeden and/or Kael'thas know where to find Anveena?

Speaking of Mogu statues... Why are there so many left all over Pandaria, especially in Pandaren rich areas? Isn't the first thing people do after a tyrant is overthrown is destroy all their statues? Why have they left them all up for so long?
