Is there a program for testing a harddrive?

The title basically says it, I got this hard drive from a from a friend recently. It's a seagate 500gig around 2 years old, he scrapped his computer for a new prebuilt and I asked if I could get the hard drive.

Now what steps would I have to take to make sure it's still a good drive?

I use Victoria for my hard drive testing. Will give you the drive speed, smart info, and show if any sectors have gone bad. Occasionally I'll also use HDDScan, but victoria about 90% of the time
