    Need a new Motherboard

To keep it short and sweet: my motherboard is dead, was purchased back in about 08. Also I will probably be upgrading some parts soon, picked the computer up from a buddy for about 450 lol yea so any suggestions on other upgrades after i get it running again would be awesome too. Budget for motherboard is around 150-200 (don't mind going much higher but would prefer less than 200).

This is what I am currently using
    Motherboard: ASUS P6T 1366 X58 newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813131357&Tpk=ASUS%20P6T%201366%20X58

    Hard Drive: HD 750|WD 7K 32M SATA2 newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822136283

    Video Card: VGA EVGA 01G-P3-1156-TR GTS250 1G R newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814130470

    Processor: Intel Core i7 920 Processor BX80601920 - 2.66GHz, LGA 1366, 4.8GT/s QPI, 8MB L3 Cache, Quad-Core, HyperThreading, Bloomfield newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819115202

    RAM: newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820134829

BTW sorry for fail links... not enough posts

You would need a LGA1366 motherboard, you could start out by checking this list and decide based on reviews and price?

EVGA 131-GT-E767-TR LGA 1366 Intel X58 seems like a descent board based on the reviews and it's one of the cheapest on the list. Granted I don't really have any experience with the X58 boards.

I had the unfortunate experience of needing to replace my 1366 motherboard over the holiday season, and it was a pain in the ass. I ended up settling on the ASRock X58 Extreme3.

For a bit more money, you can pick up a current generation CPU and decent motherboard, that's what I wish I would have done.

Any suggestions for picking up a new cpu and motherboard?

Well, if you're looking to buy them together, most people would probably recommend an second generation i5 processor for gaming (or an i7 for video editing), and Asus and Gigabyte make high quality motherboards. For my recent build, I got this motherboard. Before you ask, the new Gen3 version only has extra features (bluetooth and some other little things) most people don't use while costing $70 more.

I have never seen anyone complain about their Intel 2500K, easily overcloackable and considered one of the best cpu's for the price for gaming. If you go with that chip you will have many different mobos that will work, just look down in the computer section(nvm I did it for you) and see what others are recommending.

Just a few of the threads in the last few days, I would go with one of the Z68 boards personally, it all depends on your needs.

I'd recommend the same as Notarget. As you can see, for ~$100 more than a decent 1366 board, you can pick up the best gaming CPU (for the price) and one of the best 1155 motherboards.

I agree with these suggestions. The mobo is solid (nearly the same one as me) and the cpu is beast and easily overclockable if that is your desire. The only thing that you may want to consider would be to buy a cheaper i3 processor on the same socket and upgrade later to ivy bridge. the Ivy bridge isn't any substantial upgrade in the gaming department but the prices on the i5 etc should be lowered (at least that's what i've been told but am not certain) by then and you may even be able to pick up an ivy that's better for the same price. just a thought to consider, i'm sure there's someone that knows more about it then me, so maybe they can add their two cents

The only downside is I would actually have to pay about an extra $50 cause I am no where near one of those Microcenter stores for the CPU. That being said would it still be a better deal to get a new CPU/mobo rather than just a new motherboard?
