Possible coup in China, right now! O.o

    http://www.washingtontimes.com/news/...ing-436080940/

Just rumours right now, stay tuned..

"U.S. intelligence agencies monitoring China’s Internet say that from March 14 to Wednesday bloggers circulated alarming reports of tanks entering Beijing and shots being fired in the city as part of what is said to have been a high-level political battle among party leaders - and even a possible military coup."

"The reports followed the ouster last week of senior Politburo member and Chongqing Party Secretary Bo Xilai, who was linked to corruption, but who is said to remain close to China’s increasingly nationalistic military."

"Another posting quoted internal sources as saying senior Communist Party leaders are divided over the ouster of Mr. Bo. The divide was said to pit Prime Minister Wen Jiabao and against party security forces and Minister of Public Security Zhou Yongkang."

Interesting read, to bad it was all censored so fast, I wonder what is going on there.. I guess we will have to wait and see. All those nukes, a vote on the UN security council, could be HUGE news if there is upheaval there.

(As an aside, it reminds me of my favorite book ever, "Red Storm Rising")

Ha. Coup is no longer a searchable term on any Chinese blogging services and the official statement is that 'Citizens in Beijing celebrated and set of fireworks in celebration upon being told that oil prices are rising.'

    Ha!

Looks like trolling, especially this "official statement". But it could be that there is a deeper division in the party. I read one piece about Bo before he was ousted, that he was feared because he used populist and socialist rhetoric and could agitate the poorer inland provinces against the current leaders and their free-market-capitalism policies.

LMAO! That's an amazingly bad excuse if I've ever heard one. The only thing more absurd than a radio silent coup occurring over seas is probably that excuse.

Not sure what the point of a bunch of bloggers 'trolling' about tanks being in the streets. I mean I guess if they wanted to get in a hell of a lot of trouble with the government of china, they would do it.

I freaking love Tom Clancy and that was one awesome book! I love the bit where the guy in the Arctic asks everyone how they're doing and they say something along the lines of 'We hate this place' and he says be more positive, so they reply 'We positively hate this place' I lol'ed for real with that!

On a side note, damn i hope china starts a civil war, would knock their economy back a good deal, bringing more jobs back to the west
Congratulations, you've conformed to societies idea of a non-conformist!

It is possible since the rumors of a civil war in China have been floating around for years. Whenever major news happens in China, it usually takes a while before we finally see the filtered version. Very rarely do you ever see video from China that was taken from cell phones, etc. That last time I seen video from China about a riot because of a injuries of a Nigerian which resulted in the army coming in:

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nUdLcrqoJB4

Their blogging is censored, they have their own internet which is censored, and if anyone so much as spreads a rumor it can be considered a criminal offense.

You people do understand that a major change in government is something China should avoid at all cost....

For Chinese a change in government would be a bad thing because thecurrent system works them, and has been working for them for 20 or 30 years
For foreign countries the current system also works because we know what to expect from China. If their is a major change in goverment within a short period then who knows how long it will take before everything stabilizes.

    Nice... this could get interesting...

Now we just need to figure out which side America is going to support.

A rising tide raises all ships. Jobs are already heading back because wages in China are rising. Knock their economy back and people will again be desperate for even low wages.

There's farm jobs that no one is even considering. If you went to university and got a 4 year degree (or higher), you aren't going to settle for that sort of labor unless shit gets real serious.

Some of you that support a coup in China fail to see the economy globally.

Many did during the depression. The problem is, people are not taking the economic crisis as seriously as they should be taking it. But when that moment of realization sets in, AND IT WILL, people will go back to taking those jobs.

More like which nation would take advantage of it and claim China as their own first.

The U.S. most definitely if it ever happened. Just think about all that debt they no longer will have to pay back to China. Lol.

I see a chance for the US to nullify a large chunk of debt.

Why not? You were fooled into thinking University was any good, you fell for it and now your qualifications are worthless and you got a ton of debt. People are not better then the work they do, or the opportunities they create.

People need to stop thinking they're above or beyond certain jobs, when they're unemployed. If you've trained to be something, and you're not employed as it, you're clearly not very good, so get started on that farm!

It might work for some people in China, but definitely not for a large percentage of them, but yeah I agree that major change within a short period could create turmoil and that's not exactly fantastic for us. Not to mention if it is indeed a military coup, expect a more totalitarian, less capitalist oriented china
