Last we saw him, he was with a spirit that was pissed at the avatar, and warmongering humans in general. Considering the statement that benders have been the cause of most wars, It's not entirely unlikely that Wan Shi Tong would love to remove all bending. Plus, the library is confirmed has having references to lion-turtles, so it could possibly explain energy-bending. Wan Shi Tong also knows a damn lot about water-bending, which, coupled with the massive library, could lead to a way to be immune to bloodbending.

It's a silly theory, as there is still no real motivation for Zei and it would be weird for a secondary character that only showed up in a single episode to be the main villain. Still has about as much proof as any other theory I've heard though. Seriously, we don't really have any clues regarding the guy's identity.

I remember reading a theory a while ago that said Asami was Amon, and he provided some pretty good points, although that all went to shit with the last episode seeing as they were at 2 different places at the same time.

He wears a mask. Therefore, by television law, there must be a dramatic and shocking reveal. However, this is like a reverse Detective Novel. In those books, all of the people except the detective are suspects, each having evidence that points in their direction. However, in this case, none of the evidence points towards anyone. The only real clues we have are the energy-bending and the blood-bending immunity, and those clues don't really point towards anyone. The only suspect we can even link to the guy is the shouty protestor dude.
