Did he still have the sheathe? i'm currently rewatching tla so i don't remember if he lost that, if he didn't, he could have just made a new sword and placed it in the meteor sword sheathe.

Alright, apparently, Korra is getting ANOTHER 26 episodes on top of the previously announced 26!!!!! Book 1 and Book 2 will consist of season 1, and the newly announced 26 episodes (book 3 and 4, presumably) will be season 2!
This is so exciting, I'm so happy that the Avatar IP gets the attention it deserves by the producers.

Yeah, I just noticed that there is some confusion around that matter. Bryan helps us understand it in more detail, thankfully.
As far as the link between the four books, I don't think there is much information available. Of course, there is a chronological relation, as in Book 1 happened before Book 2 etc, and what the characters learned and the people the met carry over and so on and so forth, but it's uncertain how the story arcs will interact.
