    Wondering wether to upgrade...

    Greetings all.

Over the past few weeks I was wondering wether i should update my pc for gw2. I am generaly not the sort to do such a thing for the sake of just one game but since I 've been awating this perticular one for quite some time I may even end up doing so. My current specs are as follows:

    i3 on 3.0ghz
    gtx 560ti
    8gb ram
    aditional thingies of little importance.

Now to me graphics never were much of a factor. Meaning, I would actualy tone down spell effects and similar cause they would start to bother me after a while, as well as always turn down things as shadows for the sake of performance. What I am ultimately wondering is could my pc run that game on like medium settings with shadows turned off, but with good fps...for me smooth gameplay was always more important then spell effects. If anyone has any sort of an answer to that question i would be most grateful. Also if anyone has any...cheap ideas for where and what sort of an upgrade to get, i welcome that as well. Note that I am from Holland and thus don't have accsess to certain companies.

    Thanks in advance

There's a thread that mif posted in that shows how good your video card would do in the game and how high the settings it could use, but forgot which one.
If you're really want to upgrade your machine though, I'd wait about a month from the game release as any new items will be out to fully utilize. Beta and prerelease won't matter, just play what you have until then.

There are some files/programs out there that will increase output for games as well, Game Booster is free and works pretty well. I get a 40% increase in efficiency from it from my machine (not FPS increase, efficiency). I'm not to sure how the settings work for GW2, there's a video on it though on Youtube, you might want to look it up.

I think you'll be fine. But there's a chart in the video sticky someone posted recently that you can use also.

yh....that graphics card will run it fine.
You can trust spk...they're one of the lucky ~~~~~ that got into beta. They know things.

Personally, I'm getting a complete beast of a PC so I can run it on full for 7 days straight without it breaking a sweat.

I plan to steal some sort of supercomputer from NASA or CERN or something.

You think those can support 3d animations? I'm a bit worried.

My father does UAV missions and they get these awesome freaking computers that would put even some of the best systems to shame :< I want one.

Personally I think you'll be fine. I did however have a beast of a computer built for me. I have been needing an upgrade however so it was more then just this game.

I'd love to see what a super computer would do with GW2.
Prob multibox all 2000 chars in WvWvW and perform a massive algorithm based on combat.
That would be fun to watch.

    So many scripts! O_O

My computer would, quite literally, catch fire and melt.

But a super computer would repair itself and be building a nice watercooler on the side.
    Anyway.......too off-topic lol.

    All for GW2.
I want nanobots that repair my cells and also provide me with a totally immersive GW2 experience by directly feeding computer signals into my frontal lobes and hypothalamus
Only then will my GW2 experience be complete..

That mental image was disturbing and twisted... yet hauntingly beautiful.

Next year? That's pessimistic in the extreme.
Also contrary to the announcement by Anet in Jan.
    Don't bum out my hype!
