In terms of story; Vice City or San Andreas

So I need a single player game to keep me going until Diablo 3 and since I've already got all GTAs on my Steam I figured I'd actually play one of them. In terms of story, what would you guys say is the best? Actually, add in replay value as well. I remember the mountain alone in San Andreas giving hours of replay value, can't really think of anything as good as that on Vice City.

    gogo.

EDIT: If you're super nice guy, gift me Fallout 3! xD

San Andreas, by a mile. There's just so many things going on in that game, and the story's got so much variety. Vice City was pretty amazing too, but SA improved on so many things. Far and away the most content-packed GTA.

one thing to note though, is that some people have problems with 3D GTA controls, especially the car handling. for example, i never could really play GTA because i couldn't drive for shit.

Vice City was pretty much Scarface. I liked it, but I liked the SA story better.

both have amazing story, but like said before Vice city was Scarface meets starsky and hutch. Mostly scarface. San andreas different era and also has a amazing story line. But i actually would reccomend play both and start with Vice city. Only cause vice is a bit older and there are some elements in SA wich gives some nostalgie from vice. Not gonna spoil it but some things make a return in SA wich were in vice.

with D3 being a bit over a month away, and if you really got the time. Play both. If you think you have only a little time for it. I would suggest SA. Keep in mind SA is aswell 4 times as big.

San Andreas was a more open, interesting world, but I felt like the story and mission were more fun in Vice City. I'd say play Vice City, but if you want a true single player game I'd play GTA 4. I don't care what anyone says I still think it's the best GTA yet.

San Andreas had an incredible story, its also a much longer game. Hands down, San Andreas.

Vice City is still my favorite GTA game. SA does build well on what the previous 2 games had going for them (wish they had continued with it, would have helped make GTAIV less garbage) so I would have to go with SA, for overall game experience.

Seeing as San Andreas was the only one I finished because of the story, that's my pick.

GTA4 was rubbish as well. Some parts ere ok, but there was so little to do. No Planes, No change of clothes, guns were rubbish and most important of all

It took itself way, way too seriously!

I preferred Vice City, I really enjoyed the story, even though it was Scarface. And the game itself was far more enjoyable and felt to me, less bloated that GTA:SA.

Start with VC then SA; I recently played through both again (well not 100% completetion but all missions) and I think it took 12h to play through VC, so won't take that long if you play both. Although there were missions that were the worst I have ever experienced in a game (rc helicopter to destruct the tower building).
