Just some two cents, I have a low opinion on public school teachers since Ive had more than a few openly state "I dont care if you learn anything/do the work/pass, I still get paid." to my classes.

Edit: I remember being in highschool and sometimes girls now and then would get some uptight teacher to tell them their shorts were too short or theyre not allowed to wear sleeveless tank tops. These "offenses" usually happened in the summer time when sitting forever in a hot building got a wee bit uncomfortable. But yeah, a big deal wasnt made, and the kids were sent to the office to change into shirts/pants left over from lost and found.
This is pretty much what I think. This is what happens to my school. My school has a uniforms we have to wear(although I do not like it...different story altogether...) and if we do not wear them we have a few extras just in case something 'happens'. There is a dress code for a reason. Respect it or be ready to take risk.

The correct way to deal with it is to quietly pull the girl aside after class and tell her that she's in violation of the dress code.
That's the most vaguely worded rule ever. It could basically mean anything, apparently up to and including pointing out that someone doesn't adhere to the school's rules... I sure would've resigned if I were in that teacher's position, rather than go through the indignity of being suspended for enforcing the school's code.

I am sure this was probably just another bullshit thing in a long line of bullshit that this teacher has had to deal with, and she had just had enough so she resigned.

I've always failed to understand why someone would want to be a school teacher.

    Nightmare job in my opinion.

They still exist. They just teach in private schools now because in regular schools, if you do ANYTHING that is not by-the-book, some kid or some parent who thinks they're intelligent will get you sacked/investigated and ruin your career.

At my school (private school) half the teachers would be fired at a normal school.

    > My old RE teacher and form tutor saw a 1st year girl (~11-12 years old) who had a scarf he liked. He walked up to her, told her it was out of school regulation and he was permanently removing it from her posession. He took it off her, put it on and wore it immediately before walking away. He still wears it. This was 18 months ago.
    > (same teacher) first form period we ever had with him, he told the black kid to "shut up, you're probably packing a gun anyway, so shut it before I pop a cap in your ass"
    > (same teacher) was given a bottle of Tescos Own Whiskey or something by our form class because he always stank of whiskey and fags. So he proceeded to drink it infront of us and tell us about how his wife cheated on him.
    > Drama teacher came in baked one day, could barely stand up, threw up halfway through class, and had "eyes as red as the devils dick" to steal the quote.
    > Art teacher walked around with a bottle of Sainsburys Window Cleaner filled with what we think was water, and when someone did something he didn't think was right, or talked or something, he'd spray their face with it.
    > Politics teacher covering that art class was wandering around like a wannabe art critic and told someone that their work "represented an undiluted shit"
    > Same politics teacher put gay porn images onto the board during a presentation to a class and when everyone looked shocked said "Don't act like you didn't know"
    > Biology teacher throwing handfuls of soil at people who talked during his lesson.

That barely scratches the surface theres only 8 examples there, but if any ONE of those happened at a normal state school, the teacher in question would be questioned thoroughly >.< Noone complains because everyone takes it in good heart, but the head and probably the rest of the pupils would back the teacher anyway.

She wasn't enforcing the school's code, she was openly mocking the girl in front of the rest of the class. There are ways to go about things, drawing attention to this girl's tits wasn't the correct way.

I've been a teacher at a high school level, and being in the classroom with the kids is just about the most enjoyable work experience I've had. It's all the work outside the classroom that's annoying

we had a teacher like this when I was in school, hated the fucker, he really had a thing against my family because my cousin was a dick with him,

anyways hed be that teacher that was perverted, he actually would give the year 11 (16's) a spank on the arse as they walked past him or they called him over for help with the work, funny enough those girls were the top of the class...

That's a pretty spurious example, in fact I'd go so far as to say that you're completely ignorant in regard to the role of a teacher or you're simply being wilfully unreasonable.

Teacher resigned, was not fired. They were only going to suspend her for 5 days. Kind of sad that teachers cant even say anything. If the girl was out of the dress code, why isn't she in trouble too?

That was in New Zealand, and I accidentally made it sound a lot worse than it was by adding an r to office. They had to go to the office to shave, not the officer.

37k to 59k (average) isn't bad pay. Its not going to make you rich but it also won't make you poor if you spend wisely. It might be cheaper then some other countries but it is still a respectable amount of money to be made. So its not really sarcasm to say they are paid handsomely for teaching. Though many believe they should be paid more for what they do. They may have a point but thats debatable.

I dunno. If I got suspended for telling some tramp she's dressed like a hussy and out of regs (albeit in less severe terms), I'd just say fuck it and leave.

Teaching is generally a shitty underpaid job, nobody respects them. It's no wonder the education system is in the dumps these days.

I don't think any teacher would ever say this, so to me this is just another reason to be Anti-US. People teach because they love to teach, not to make millions.
