So my roommate and i got talking and he mentioned a game called Fold It. This game is made to figure out how to make/design new proteins.
IMO something like this should be done more often and expanded on. If scientists can't come up with it why not put it out to the general public where there is more brain power to try to figure it out.

So what do you guys think about this?

Goals of Foldit

"Designing new proteins may be more directly practical than protein prediction, as the problem you must solve as a protein designer is basically an engineering problem (protein engineering), whether you are trying to disable a virus or scrub carbon dioxide from the atmosphere."

"In 2011, players of Foldit helped to decipher the crystal structure of the Mason-Pfizer monkey virus (M-PMV) retroviral protease, an AIDS-causing monkey virus. While the puzzle was available to play for a period of three weeks, players produced an accurate 3D model of the enzyme in just ten days. The problem of how to configure the structure of the enzyme had stumped scientists for 15 years."
