This was a plot point in Bruce Almighty.
Now, THIS thing? THIS thing is horrible. It's just awful. It was awful at 60 and it was awful at 58. It's awful at 45. If this dropped off a mob in Wailing Caverns when you were level 17 and being run through by a higher level character, you would equip it ONLY because you don't have trinkets at that level, and it would STILL SUCK.

    Worthless?

You can either pick your numbers or have a computer decide.

Also, the US is a pretty safe country where you can flaunt your wealth or apparent wealth (tons of not very rich people with fancy cars here) so yeah.

It's almost funny how people go crazy when the jackpot goes to some big number. It's like the "small" $10-20 million jackpot is not worth playing for and they wait until it hits $100 million and above. Human psychology is a curious thing.
Of course, such lotteries are a ridiculous waste of money and resources and people with rational thinking shouldn't be playing in them.

The lotto sounds like a great business plan. Last time I checked America had already spent 1.5 billion for this drawing. There is no probability in their favor that makes them always come out in front like a casino, they already won.

    Exactly this.
according to BBC news theres 3 winners walking off with £130 million before taxes.

If I won that sort of money I would most certainly take a year out travailing so that everything could calm down. Those "Family" members who I had not spoken to who suddenly deiced to look me up would be given a £5 note (the lowest English note) with a letter stating that is all they would be getting.

    So much win.

640 million mega millions.. is that 6.4*10^20 ? is there even so much money in the world?!

edit: oh Mega Millions.. its the name of the lottery lol..

    So much overkill.
Give me 5 mil and I'll turn it into 30mil in 15 years.
    640 is wayyyyy too much.

You're under the impression that picking your numbers actually decides your fate in a lottery? How silly.

  11. #31
Only one winner? That sucks. When it gets large its always better to have it split among multiple winners so more people get to share in the wealth. Would be better to have 100 people get 6.4 million than have 1 person get 640 million. Even with taxes. Or maybe Im just super jealous...

Still this person will be bankrupt soon enough.

Edit: Good to see that it does look like more than 1 winner. Share the wealth!

Maybe not homeless but probably at the very least completely broke and possibly owing millions in unpaid taxes.

Lottery ticket-holders in Illinois, Kansas and Maryland each selected the winning numbers for the world record-breaking $640 million Mega Millions jackpot, lottery officials said early Saturday.
there are 3 winners, not 1.

There were 3 winners, split 3 ways and taxed, each, depending on how they take the payment will get probably less than 100m.

So you can provide 12.67% return consistently over 15 years? that's not bad, you could probably get a very nice job at a hedge fund.

The one thing that scares me about the huge jackpots like that is what happens if you win. If the media gets a hold of your name, you're suddenly in the limelight. They're on you like white on rice. They want you to make appearances, they'll write news stories about you, your name will be everywhere once you show up to cash in. Then you have to deal with all the people you've ever met trying to get all buddy-buddy with you for your money, or worse, desperate folks willing to get at it through illegal means. I'd be worried for my safety if I won that kind of money..

If this person is smart he/she could have it last for atleast a few generations later on, but knowing how alot of people are nowadays I'm willing to bet they'll blow it on tons of non-essential stuff.

There were 3 winners. Kinda glad it didn't all go to one person. Seething rage that I didn't win though. :P

Like is prone to happen though, if they're po-dunk poor and don't know how to handle it, that money will be gone shortly.
They can dynamite Devil Reef, but that will bring no relief, Y'ha-nthlei is deeper than they know.

Congrats to the 3 lucky winners. I am just glad some elderly didn't win.
I will never take part in the lottery, mostly because I have a better chance at being hit by lightning 10 times.
