planing on getting the HoM things

I want to play a mmorpg now and i cant find any. so i thought for my self, why not try get some HoM things, (i think thats the name)
But there are hundreds of expansion packs for GW1, so i wonder, which packs do i need? all of them?

    thanks

edit: let's say if it's too late of i dont want to do the HoM, but instead i only want to play the game as it is to waste some time. Do i still need to get 1 pack at once like wow?

More like just one expansion pack.

Eye of the North is the expansion pack, Prophecies is the original game, Nightfall and Factions are campaigns you can buy if you want to. Only one campaign (I believe prophecies is considered one) is necessary for Eye of the North.

I don't know if you can buy Nightfall and Factions as standalone games though.

    Hundreds? lol

There are only 3 (technically 1), and you only need one of the stand alones (Prophecies, Factions, or Nightfall) and the 1 actual expansion with HoM (Eye of the North.)

And it's never too late for HoM. HoM (Hall of Monuments) awards can be obtained forever, even after GW2 launches. So don't worry about that, you have time.

Eye of the North is the only expansion that requires a previous version of GW1. Prophecies, Factions, and Nightfall can all stand on their own and do not require any other games or expansions.

You need Eye of the north to do the HoM, and you'll need factions and nightfall if you want to get far into the HoM, but you only need prophecies if you want to just pass time, but alot of people cant really get into prophecies that easily, its pretty long and somewhat annoying to get into. So i would suggest getting factions and nightfall also

You need at least 1 one of the standalone games (prophecies, factions, nightfall) and the expansion pack (eye of the north). Having more than 1 standalone game will make getting points much easier though (preferably all 3). There are several threads here that explain the best ways to collect points so I suggest you look them up.

Yes, but do research on the game before buying them. GW is vastly different from GW2.

http://www.youtube.com/user/WoodenPo.../videos?view=1 has playthroughs of all the campaigns (including the free ones)

Prophecies was his first video series, so it's kinda dull. But the more recent stuff is much better.
