I'm 18, hungarian, last year high school student, learning physics.

I am a music enthusiast, I know a rather large amount of bands from many many genres and I care a lot more about music than just casual listening.

Although I like way more bands than that, my interests can generally be separated to two categories.
One side of me like simple, catchy but very aggressive and angry music, mainly hardcore punk and its derivatives like (good) metalcore and deathcore, the other side of me likes anything esoteric, mystical, gloomy, epic (in the right sense), vague, obscure with surreal/dreamlike soundscapes. This type of stuff generally includes atmospheric black or doom metal, shoegaze, post-rock, drone, dark ambient and similiar genres. But I also like tons of electronica and various metal genres not covered in the above.

    Bands I adore:

    Alcest (blackgaze)
    Arcturus (avantgarde/experimental black metal)
    As I Lay Dying (metalcore)
    August Burns Red (tech metalcore)
Between The Buried and Me (prog metalcore)
    Dissection (melodic black metal)
    Distance (dubstep)
    Emperor (symphonic/atmospheric black metal)
    Heaven Shall Burn (metalcore)
    Iced Earth (US power metal)
    Ion Dissonance (tech deathcore/mathcore)
    Katatonia (death/doom metal)
    Long Distance Calling (post-rock)
    Misery Signals (prog metalcore)
    My Bloody Valentine (shoegaze)
    NiT GriT (dubstep)
    Opeth (extreme prog metal)
    Sacramentum (melodic black metal)
    Slowdive (shoegaze)
    Summoning (atmospheric black metal)

    Bands I like:
    All Shall Perish (deathcore)
    Animosity (deathcore)
    Arsis (tech melodeath)
    As Blood Runs Black (deathcore)
    Augury (tech/prog death metal)
    Austere (depressive black metal/blackgaze)
    Born of Osiris (prog deathcore)
    Burial (dubstep/post-dubstep)
    Burning The Masses (tech deathcore)
    Caliban (metalcore)
    Converge (metalcore/mathcore)
    Dark Angel (thrash metal)
    Dawn (melodic black metal)
    Dawn of Ashes (dark industrial/ebm/aggrotech)
    Deafheaven (blackgaze)
    Death (death metal/prog death/prog thrash)
    Despised Icon (tech deathcore)
Dimmu Borgir (symphonic black metal/extreme symphonic metal)
    Forest Stream (atmospheric doom metal)
If These Trees Could Talk (post-rock)
    Integrity (metalcore)
    Ixion (atmospheric doom metal)
    Les Discrets (post-rock/blackgaze)
    Lustmord (dark ambient)
    Moss (drone/doom)
    Nevermore (prog US power metal)
    Neptune Towers (dark ambient)
    Neurotech (industrial metal)
    Parkway Drive (metalcore)
    Pendulum (drum & bass/electronic rock)
    Rites of Spring (emo/post-hardcore)
    Saetia (screamo/post-hardcore)
    Samael (black metal/industrial metal)
    Shai Hulud (hardcore/metalcore)
    Shem (dubstep/drum & bass)
    Sick Of It All (hardcore/crossover)
    SikTh (prog metalcore)
    Skream (dubstep)
    Slayer (thrash metal)
    Sleepmakeswaves (post-rock)
    Sub Focus (drum & bass)
    Sun Devoured Earth (blackgaze)
    Sunn O))) (drone/doom)
    Tears Run Rings (shoegaze)
    The Contortionist (prog deathcore)
The Faceless (tech deathcore/tech death metal)
Through The Eyes Of The Dead (tech deathcore)
    Thy Art Is Murder (deathcore)
    Unearth (metalcore)
War From A Harlots Mouth (tech metalcore/deathcore)
Woods of Desolation (depressive black metal/blackgaze)
    Zao (hardcore/metalcore)

And MANY others whom I just can't recall now, not to mention this list would be obesely long.

    Bands I don't like:
    Most euroflower metal bands.
Almost all glam metal/cock rock bands.
Most bands/artists who are/sell products rather than sincere music. One does not play good music without inspiration.
Most of the nowadays trendy post-hardcore/metalcore hybrid bands except a few (From Autumn To Ashes, Adept, Sienna Skies).
    Most nowadays popular pop singers.

Matt, Sweden, 27, currently a student in University, I've always been massivly into music, started my first band as a 12 year old, played in various bands with mates until I was 17-18 years old, by that time my interest had shifted and I was predominantly into house and techno rather then rock/indie... it had been my faverite genres since I was 14-15 though and I used to spend every friday afternoon after school listening to the latest batch of vinyl at my local record store. At 17-18 I bought my first set of decks and a mixer and started to practise Djing, I had already an extensive vinyl/record collection since I had spent most of my money on records for years already.

Started to hang out on different message boards/forums and learned to know quite a few people that way, I still remember the first demo version of Call on me as it got posted on one of the small local forums I visited/posted on, classic :P. Miss that forum, it was really small and closeknit and it's quite cool to see how great things went for quite a few of the guys who were posting on it back then, Eric Prydz, Samuel Larsson(Sam L Session), Steve Angello, Seb Ingrosso, Adam Beyer, Joel Mull, Rasmus Faber, Özgür Can etc...

Always gone to a lot of live shows and festivals as well of course.

Anyways, been involved in organizing parties and played records as well... not much nowdays though to be frank, still play around at home and I still buy a shitload of music. Not much vinyl nowdays though, it's all about beatport etc

The nerve is called the "nerve of awareness". You cant dissect it. Its a current that runs up the center of your spine. I dont know if any of you have sat down, crossed your legs, smoked DMT, and watch what happens... but what happens to me is this big thing goes RRRRRRRRRAAAAAWWW! up my spine and flashes in my brain... well apparently thats whats going to happen if I do this stuff...

    I get it.

I could also list a lot of bands and such. There are just so many of these threads already. I feel like this can be covered in the `What are you listening to know`

Personalizing in this forum is only going to happen if we trasition from listing songs to an actual discussion.
