WD 1terabyte external hard drive issue

Hey guys. Was hoping someone could give me a little insight or advice on an issue I'm having with an external hard drive.

    It's a WD 1 Terabyte external drive. 1W0EADS

It has been running perfectly since I got it about a year ago, drivers are updated and such. Today when I get home from work, I get this error twice

"You need to format the disk before use"

    Followed by this

In the device manager everything looks it's working fine. Like I said drivers are updated and such.

The computer itself has been shut off for about 24 hours. No power surges or anything between then and now. I turned it on, started up like normal and the error. It shows up, I just can't open it. No recent downloads or changes to the system.

I've tried switching the USB ports as well as the power outlets.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

If it is a supported drive, check the SMART status. Sounds like it is failing.
