Winrar file

winrar file was changed into a exe file. How do I turn it back into a rar file ?

Tried renaming it, so instead of some-random-name.exe, it's some-random-name.rar.

It said always that the file type was .rar. Then It was changed in to a file type exe. and I tried to open it by chosen a program for it as a winrar. but it still says file type .exe... I dont under stand it. the file looks now like a page with winrar books on it and not like it did before just only with books. And I want to change it back as it was. Would it help me to rename the file ?

If you aren't currently showing file extensions, then renaming it probably won't help.

Otherwise, if it is a properly compressed file you should be able to rename it to .rar and be able to open it with Winrar normally.

You should just be able to rename it and include .rar at the end. Otherwise try reinstalling WinRar.
