Tbh it's fair, i mean, 100g now is the same as 10g in BC.

Exactly this. My mage is my main. I will sit and watch people scream for portals all day and will continue refusing to port people until people understand inflation, and what it means to provide a service. Since that will never happen, I'm rarely someone's portal bitch.

The cost of the rune has ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to do with porting people places or determine how much the port should cost. When players start understanding this, I may port the poor guy who has been spamming 5 minutes for a port. Since it's unlikely the player base will never understand that it's not about the cost of the rune, again not likely I'm going to be someone's portal bitch.

When I'm not on my main, I always tip a minimum of 100g, sometimes more, because I understand what it means to provide a service, and how much money is undervalued in the game now.

If I'm on my mage I'll sometimes just get whispers for ports. I don't ask for anything in return (thus a true "tip"), but every time I usually get 10g. Someone gave me 50g at one point.

I usually offer 10-15. I never ask anyone to move at all for me. I will always come to the mage no matter where they are. I only ever ask for ports if I need to get to Dalaran for some reason. Everywhere else is easy enough to get it.

On my mage I don't ask for or even expect tips. If they offer them good. The cost of porting someone is so minor why should I care.

lol.. i dont has a mage.. but i use that same theory with other things that should be free.. a certain halloween wanding charge comes to mind.

OT: i agree with most of the posters here so far.. be a butthead and demand money = nvm ill find somebody else. be cool and ill tip big. i reward those for having a nice attitude.. punish those that are self entitled. also.. i usually only need a port to shat once in a blue moon.. any other horde city.. ill just travel the long way (by zep)

    Normally 10-30g, average 20g

    One time I got 100g, sometimes 50g

What's being sold is convenience, not the reagents, so saying that it only costs 15 silver or whatever for the reagent is just silly. Also the mage, for instance, has to be level 74 to make a portal to Dalaran, and that has a certain value. Even if you had a level 74 mage of your own, you couldn't port yourself without someone help to get into a group (unless it's on a different account).

Yes, I never charge anything. People always just pay me anyway. I am happy to make free portal for anyone, regardless of level or wealth.

I provide the rune and give them 25g they can take it or not; there are usually several mages in a city anyways.
It needs to be 20% cooler.

Since I camp in Ironforge, people rarely bother me with anything. But when someone asks for a portal and I'm there, I always do it except if I'm in a raid group. Also, I never charge purposefuly. If people ask "how much", I say "it's free, have fun". However, a lot of people avoid communication and simply open a trade window, giving me 10-50 gold. I won't refuse someone's inability to communicate

If I ever get them, I offer 10g. If I ever give them, 10g sounds about right. I'm not in the school of thought that you should pay someone 50g for something that requires little to no effort.

I dont make portals for anyone except guildies on my mage. ESPECIALLY not if they just randomly whisper me out the the blue and i don't even know them. If you want to get places faster, play a mage.

Conversely, I've never asked a mage (unless its a guildie) to port me anywhere when I'm on my main/other alts.

I don't charge anything, but anyone who tips less than 15g earns a spot on my ignore list. So far it has worked out just fine.

Don't have a mage, but I always tip for this reason.

I normally do 100g, if I've been spamming for a bit I'll go as high as 500g

That day is the only day I ever charged for ports ^.^
I'm usually a nice guy, but I'm not above exploiting a market that won't be there for too long.
