Are there any precautions or methods I should take before storing my RAM away? I bought some new sticks in a attempt to stop the random crashes (and continuous beeping after) this PC has been having. I am not sure yet if the RAM is the culprit, so I'm storing it before junking it to see how this new kit will work out.
Currently I have the older sticks out on top of a non-static bag. I'm thinking of just going ahead and stuffing them inside to keep dust from falling on the teeth.
You can stick RAM in whatever, it doesn't matter as long as it's enclosed. It's far less fragile to static than other components. I got my Ripjaws from newegg in just a plain plastic blister pack.
When you buy RAM it is often in a molded plastic container with no static protection, so keep it covered and away from dust, sunlight and "extreme" temperatures (can deteriorate the plastic) and it will be fine.
