I've not paid too much attention to all of the classes notes for MoP changes, but I know my SPriests arsenal of healing spells is getting gutted and Recuperate, I believe, is getting a nerf so it seems to be something Blizzard seem to be tuning for MoP, as opposed to just "removing them". What the OP seems to forget is PvP (where, arguably, DPS self-healing has the most impact) is not the only aspect of the game; but considering he actually listed mages( who have a lengthy glyphed CD with Evocation and a specced and risky Cauterize/Iceblock as their limit) as one of the worst offenders of self-healing I don't hold out much hope for the OPs reasoning of logic.
