Will this build last me three years without changing a single piece?

    Hello,

I would like to know if this build would last me 3 years without changing a single part assuming that everything is working correctly?

    Here is the build:

Things I expect from this build:
    • Run all current games on max settings. (What I'm interested in the most right now is Diablo III, GW2, The Witcher 2: enhanced edition)
    • Run future games on ultra-medium settings with 60+ FPS

Also, I have a few questions:
    1. I won't have enough money to buy a 128gb SSD. My question is should I wait until I can afford to get a 128gb SSD (which 1 month after I build my pc and postponing isn't really an option) or should I go with the 64gb ssd?
    2. Should I go with a Sapphire HD 7970 OC Edition OR msi GTX 680 reference card? or is it better to go with a gtx 580 right now and upgrade in a year?
    3. I live in a desert area and dust builds up very quickly so I want a case with good dust filters and air flow (HAF X maybe?).
    4. Should I go with Logitech Z506 Surround sound system (speakers) or Logitech G35 (I wear rimless glasses so is the headset comfortable to wear for 6 hours straight?). I want something very comfortable for to wear for hours for people wearing glasses. Noise isn't really a problem.
    5. Can you recommend a mouse and a keyboard? These are the games I'm going to play the most: Diablo III, Guild Wars2.

In 3 years we will most certainly have a new generation of consoles, which means that nobody can predict the PC requirements of the new console ports.

I don't even have to review your links to say 'no'. When you are speaking about computer hardware three years might as well be three decades. You're talking about three years worth of CPU upgrades, three years for video cards to upgrade, better SSD technology to be developed, etc, etc. You're also talking about three years of USE on your computer... wear and tear and hardware strain varies by user and region and from the sounds of it you've got quite a nasty dust issue.

Can you go 3 years without replacing everything? Sure you can... you probably won't be able to play every game that comes out in that time-frame though.

I would say yes. They listed the new gen consoles are going to use the 6670 gpu (I believe or the 6570) so if PC games are still not fully optimized for PC, then you will be fine for a good amount of time. You probably wont play at max settings at a resolution of 1920x1080, 3 years down the road for the latest games, but you should be able to play them just fine. D3/GW2 you will destroy those games with that system. It's a good system.

    I would get a z77 board....and a 120gb SSD.. 60 wont last long.

    I disagree.

    CPU/GPU
Take the dual core Intel processors found in laptops, mix it with a Nvidia 460 (released in 2009) and you're still looking towards Low/medium on Battlefield 3 - a 2011 release.

    SSD Technology.
    - Has nothing to do with gaming at all, it has to do with load speeds.

The only problem I see is Wear and tear, but if you're carefull enough and clean your PC regularily you should still be good 3 years ahead.

To be blunt, No it won't. It's a decent build but if you want to be playing games on ultra you'll be be upgrading pieces to the point in 3 years you'll have a whole new computer.

1.It depends what you want to be running off the SSD, 64GB should be fine if you want it OS dedicated.
2.Right now is an iffy time to be buying GPU's, whole new gen just came out and diff manufacturers will be still working with the new tech. (i may be wrong about radeon cards, not knowledgable it that regard).
3.HAF X, 912, 932, 942 are great cases for air flow but be expected to clean them regularly.
4.If sound levels arn't an issue the surround system would be my preference.
5.Cyborg RAT7 or RAT9 is my preference for mice. Razer naga would be second. Logitech G19 or razer blackwidow are my fav keyboards.

I'm still gaming on a core2duo E8400, a 9800GTX+ and 2GB DDR2 RAM on a P5Q motherboard, and getting acceptable FPS on medium quality in WoW, SCII, Skyrim and Witcher 2. So yes, you should still be able to play games on the computer in 3 years time, but on which settings? Nobody can tell you that.

    Thanks for answering my questions.

Yes the SSD I plan to make it for the OS + all the different software (firefox, IDM, etc.)
I will install the games on the HDD

So, is it a better idea to go with a HD 7970/GTX680 right now and upgrade in two years, or should I go with a gtx 580 (or any lower card that run Diablo III, GW2, Witcher 2 at ultra settings) and upgrade in 8-12 months ?

    Big card now is better.

It is kind of dumb to make an SSD only be usable by Windows but I guess to each their own.

Even a 128gb SSD is not enough for windows + games

Sure it is. I could run Windows + all programs + WoW + other smaller games on my 64GB SSD. Now with my 128GB there is less micromanaging and I can (obviously) fit more games, I have 70GB worth of games on it now and still 35GB left so yeah you're wrong.

That's good to hear. I guess I'll buy a 64gb SSD now and after a couple of months I'll buy an additional 128gb SSD

Change the motherboard to an Asrock Z77 Extreme4 or Pro3 and take the saved cash and get a 128GB now instead, my opinion anyways.

    Motherboard: ASRock Z77 Extreme4 ATX LGA1155 Motherboard ($142.86 @ Newegg)
    Total: $142.86
(Prices include shipping and discounts when available.)

    Motherboard: ASRock Z77 Pro3 ATX LGA1155 Motherboard ($117.55 @ Newegg)
    Total: $117.55
(Prices include shipping and discounts when available.)

Crucial m4 128GB is "only" about $140 now:

    Hard Drive: Crucial M4 128GB 2.5" Solid State Disk ($139.99 @ Amazon)
    Total: $139.99
(Prices include shipping and discounts when available.)

Looking at your build (in the OP) I would also suggest a better quality case at the same price or save you some money but still keep a high level of quality, you don't need a full tower. Corsair 500R (come sin black or white/black theme) or Corsair 650DW (window):

Case: Corsair CC650DW ATX Mid Tower Case ($169.47 @ Mac Connection)
    Total: $169.47
(Prices include shipping and discounts when available.)
    (Generated 2012-04-24 14:38 EDT-0400)

Case: Corsair 500R Black ATX Mid Tower Case ($129.99 @ Newegg)
    Total: $129.99
(Prices include shipping and discounts when available.)

I want a full tower case. would you recommend the Silverstone Raven rev03 or maybe NZXT Phantom?

Also the motherboards you recommended aren't available where I live. Would you recommend this motherboard GIGABYTE GA-Z77X-D3H

Where do you live? (The gigabyte board is fine)

NZXT Switch 810 if you need a full tower, are you going to water cool your rig?
